So if i send the £1900 plus the 3.4% charge to his paypal....Will he be able to just withdraw to his bank account or is it too much..i.e Is there a withdraw limit..He has no clue about Paypal and has only used it once.
And will he get charged anything???
Thanks
is it time sensitive?
is this a trade/sale?
can he wait for you to fund your paypal balance?0 -
Well yeah it is for a boat actually and the man thats selling it is going on holiday for 2 weeks on thursday so i kind of hoped it would all go through while he is away so that when he gets back he can just withdraw the money and we can go pick the boat up.
But nothing is as simple as that i suppose!!0 -
Paypal works fine for this sort of thing and is a cheap way of getting cash out of a credit card as it is treated as a purchase by your credit card company and not a cash advance. if you have couple of weeks grace, the safest way is to open a second Paypal account in your partners name and send the money from your credit card to his account. He can then withdraw it to his bank account and you can pay for the boat the usual way. This way you dont have to worry if the recepient will be getting the full amount or work out how much will be detcted in fees (around 3.4%).0

Is it just me or am I missing the point that all you 'supposed' PayPal lovers miss the fact there are sending and withdrawal limits!!
i.e. my rant remains, PayPal should be avoided at all costs and going on some of the custom there, not surprisingly..2010 - year of the troll

Ok thanks.
Typhoon, If i did open a paypal account in other halfs name it would have to be with the same current account that is listed on my paypal becuase we both use this account for mortgage etc...So would that cause a problem?
does anyone know what the sending and withdrawing limits are then???0 -
if you are picking the boat up then couldnt you fund your own PP and withdraw to your bank account
then when you go to collect you would have cash in hand and can make sure you are happy with the boat before handing over any cash?0 -
go to paypal and click limits!

We have viewed the boat a few times so there is no worries there.
Wouldn't that be classes as a cash advance? just paying my own paypal with a credit card???
I have remembered my other half has an old savers account that he never uses that we could set up a paypal with then just do it all at home like typhoon said.
but need to know the limits really or the whole thing would be pointless if i send £1900 and can only take £1500-£1700 out??!!
thanks again fr people trying to help0 -
Log in to your account, then click limits!
Basically you have to verify the whole process and this takes time - more like a week or three
As I say, PP is crap and i'd not use them but if you must then good luck. Limits were designed to stop exactly what you're trying to do here.2010 - year of the troll
