????~paypal~????

Options
Hello, We have got a private purchase to pay for and have got a tesco credit card to pay for it.
We were originally thinking of just transfering the money into either ours or their current account but would face a very high money transfer interest rate.

So now we were going to pay via paypal, we understand there would be a 3.4% fee for a credit card transaction which we have offered to pay because its our fault it has to go through paypal.

But I am now worried in case tesco credit card treats paypal transactions as cash advance or anything and also in case the person we are paying will not be allowed to withdraw £2000. I think i read somewhere that there is a £1700 pa limit.

Also i dont want him to get any paypal charges for recieving money.

I don't see any other way of paying?? as you can tell I am very stressed and worried.

do tesco issue credit card cheques? are these just treated as cash advances too??

please help.......

xx

yes CC cheques are treated as cash. The only way around it would be to credit another card with the funds (like a BT) which would be cheaper than paying paypal fees. Then asking the other provider for a refund. OR if you know the other person, like they are a mate - then just BT the amount to their credit card account...

But whatever you do, i'd avoid PayPal as they are worse than the CRA's!!! Check www.paypalsucks.com and see for yourself....

why would the op avoid paypal?
they are sending the funds so any risk is theirs
given they are sending £2k im sure(or i hope!!) they are prefectly happy with the recipient getting the funds?
there are fee's for sending even as a gift in paypal unless you send the funds to your paypal account balance then send as a gift

www.paypalsucks.com will explain. Other than the fact they are an unregulated commodity, not based in the UK, consistently aid-and-abet fraudsters and charge silly amounts whilst getting stinking rich should be about enough to start....

I can continue if necessary :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So it works for you, just not the 4m people who constantly moan about the monopoly of it all........

I was one of the first users back in the US and then came with it to the UK so I too have many years of using it, until eBay bought it at which point things changed. Now i'd rather just send £10 in an envelope to any random person and hope for the best!

Yes, I did sue PayPal and yes I did win and yes the details are online and yes I got a nice payout to keep quiet and yes I got a lifetime ban from using their service and fought this and won as well (done this from spite).

PayPal are a pain and should be alienated and subsequently closed down. My opinion of course - you're entitled to yours..... ;)

    Oh???

    see now I'm completely confused!!!!

exactly what other charges would we have to pay? other than the 3.4% credit card charge which we will try and send with the payment.

    ~?~?~?

So if i send the £1900 plus the 3.4% charge to his paypal....Will he be able to just withdraw to his bank account or is it too much..i.e Is there a withdraw limit..He has no clue about Paypal and has only used it once.

And will he get charged anything???

    Thanks

I can see your point, but are there any other companies that offer a similar service?
There used to be Nochex and various others, but I'm not sure there are other companies.

A balance transfer is a good idea but only if the OP (or a trusted friend) has another credit card to accesss and sometimes refunds can take ages.
I'm sure that capital one took serveral weeks (about 4 or 5) to send me a cheque.
