Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 26th July! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Hmmmm 3 days in a row. Come on all you early risers I can't be the only one starting this thread this week ;)

Anyway weather is currently dry oops scratch that I've just checked out the window again and it's that silly light rain. oh joy more of the wet stuff. As if we haven't had enough so far this July.

Anyway I never got to make Nigellas lime cheesecake yesterday so tin is double wrapped and ready to go! I have promised my parents a slice so ought to make the effort to get it made!
Tea tonight is pea and bacon risotto (although I don't have any risotto rice but there you go!).
Am enjoying the Flylady thread. I have actually done some cleaning for once! Dare I say its a miracle and I am really trying to keep the house tidy and put stuff away.
Got to take some library books back, was going to walk up there but not sure I fancy it if the rain gets any heavier.
Car failed it's MOT yesterday. Back license plate needs replacing and there was a huge crack in the windscreen at the bottom by the blowers. We thought it was touch and go as to whether it go through so I now have to pay £65 excess to get it fixed via insurance. More money I don't have..........
Cut three heads of cauliflower yesterday which I soaked in salted water and then blanched. I do like this grow your own stuff but I don't like the bugs that come with it. Think I had a spider <shivers> and two very quick mini beast things. I am happy to grow it just want someone else to cut and prepare it......
Anyway haven't caught up with the rest of yesterdays thread so off to nose and then to FLY!
Happy Birthdays to those celebrating and hugs to those that need it.
Have a good day OS or not.
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks

Morning. Attrocious weather down here again! Heavy rain and winds. Glad I am not camping. It's the Navy air day at Helston and my daughter is going. I rang and they are still holding it, so I guess they are more hopeful that I am that it will do somthing else other than rain.

Holidaymakers (emmits) everywhere blocking up the roads. I hate summer
    I am a very grumpy person...:rotfl:
So what to do today on my day off. Avoid the shops, avoid the roads, Hmm not much else left.

As the Met office seem to have got the summer forcast all wrong again.... I guess we are in for much of the same

Hope you can enjoy something of today

Emmets, lol, in Blackpool they call them Grockles.
I need to visit my banks today, sounds posh doesn't it, I have 3 accounts, 1 in my married name & 2 in my maiden name, 2 of them are free, they come in very useful when I empty my penny jar as each bank will only accept 3 bags of change per account per day & I usually have about 20. I refuse to use the change machine at Asda as they take a percentage.
So plans for today include counting my money & yet more sewing.
Lamb chops tonight, with pots from the garden.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Bitsy, I know what you mean about bugs from the garden..a nececessary evil but I always wear gloves, just in case.
    N9eav, you grumpy! Never! ;)

An early start for me today. It's a glorious day here but the forecast is for sunshine and showers so it will probably change soon. I had my coffee in the garden this morning and everything is looking good out there so think I'll have to do some of the dreaded jobs in the house that I've been putting off. I didn't manage to hem the curtains yesterday, so that needs to be done - Floss, thanks so much for your help. Unfortunately they are pinched pleats so I have no choice but to work from the bottom. :(

Ds1 wants to earn some money at the moment. Last week he helped me paint the living room, this week he's helping clean out the kitchen cupboards, so that's what we'll be up to today. I'm paying him per hour and he's spurring me on to do things so it's a win/win situation for us both.

Off to the hairdressers later today. My regular hairdresser is on holiday so I'm putting myself and the boys in the hands of another one who is great at cutting hair but never listens to what you actually want and merrily cuts it the way she thinks is best...so I'm a bit nervous about that, but needs must as we all need to get it done before our holiday.

Right, I need to have another coffee. Have a good day everyone.

    Morning All

N9eav - grumpy - Victor Meldrew springs to mind :rotfl:only joking, I am gutted how bad this summer is turning out to be. Makes us spend loads more money rather than just sitting on beaches for free.

Ooh Pink, good luck at the hairdressers  (as long as your hair doesnt resemble  it will be fine :D)

Fine rain here at the moment too and very muggy. Think DS is off with my sister and her kids today at our little independent very cheap cinema. DD wants to do something but probably wont be up till lunchtime. I need to wait in for some phones to be delivered so maybe will do something with her this afternoon, we have been planning to open a bank a.c with a debit card for her - perhaps will get that over and done with.

I have normal amount of office work, housework and ironing to get through. Yesterday was a day of interuptions so didnt get much done.

Changed menu plan around and will be having pork kebabs tonight. Also I am slowly using up the large amount of rolls I seem to have frozen recently for lunches :j

Best get on, need another coffee, have a great day.

Morning Chums well we are supposed to be taking the boys to Joss Bay today but the forecast isn't looking too good.Might be a change of plan coming on I think. Not much fun having a picnic on a wet beach. Only three weeks until our family holiday on the Isle of Wight I hope the weather perks up a bit .Met forecasters seem to have slipped up again. I think the old seaweed method is just as good and a darned sight cheaper way of forecasting the weather plus of course my dodgy hip that's fairly reliable when it comes to rain :)
Chicken quarter wrapped in bacon in my remoska for dinner tonight I think. I can't believe its almost August where has this year gone to, the time just seems to be whizzing by just lately.before you know it the Christmas stuff will be in the shops. Right well I'm off for some breakfast and to watch the weather on the news. have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xx

Hi everyone. Overslept again - have no idea why; I just keep turning the alarm off!

I have just rushed DH off to work (having had to force myself to make ham and pickle sandwiches as soon as I had woken up), then my DS2 phoned and I thought it was to say that DIL had had the baby, but he wanted to know something else - my heart is still racing now. As soon as I answered the phone, he said 'it's not the phone call you think it is!'. Anyway, a strong cup of coffee has put me right and I've come on here to calm down a bit.

WM is on, the water is ready for the BM and I only have to pop out to post some letters in the postbox just up the road. I posted some letters there yesterday and, for the first time since I've been here, I started driving back on the wrong side of the road!:eek: Thank heavens it's a quiet village - it was only when I saw the third car coming along on 'my' side of the road that I realised that I was in the wrong. I still have UK plates on the car, so they probably thought 'b****y British drivers!' I just wasn't concentrating, obviously.

Anyway, I have yet more paperwork to do - I'm doing DH's accounts (the last lot, thankfully) and I was hoping I could get them all done in one day, but I've ended up spending about two hours a day on them, otherwise my eyes just completely glaze over and I start making mistakes.

DS2's early morning phone call has made me realise that I am not as ready as I should be for if we do get the call before we go back to the UK. We will decide this weekend when to book the ferry and hope we get our timings right!

Dinner tonight is something with pork chops and some of the lovely green beans that I froze last week. Pudding will be bread-and-butter pudding with creme fraiche.

Well, I'd better get on with the housework.

Hope you all have a great day.

Well it tipping down of rain here this morning (again)
The twins had a bettter nights sleep last night. So i think thay have turned a courner with there colds.

Got no real plans for today as such.(what a boring life iv got:D)

If we dont go out then luch will be home made soup. maybe buttenut or carrott.

Dinner tonight no real plans as of yet but im thinking maybe fish pie? but i bet if i ask for that my wife will say no as we had it the other day, She allways says not if i ask for it more than once in seven days:D

I was thinking the other day that its been months since we used our slow cooker. I might cook somthing in it at the weekend.

I hope that evryones well and if you or anyone you know (the list grows evryday) has swine flu then i hope that its not to nasty for you and that you are recovering well.
The list of people that we know/hear off is getting bigger by the day. Thanksfully no one we know is so ill that thay have been admitted to hospital. But my Dad has C.O.P.D which in lay man terms means his lungs are knakad. So it is a worry if he got it then he would be very ill. And it may even finish him off.

Well i hope that you all have a good day.
    enjoy yourselfs everyone:j:j

    Morning all,

No rain here yet this morning, but looks like it will later, off to work today , dd is still in bed, will get her up just before i go and leave her her jobs for today :D

OH and I have chicken in black bean sauce for tea with noodles, and dd had a spinach and ricotta lasagne.

I picked a load of runner beans yesterday and blanced and frozen them, and also a cabbage that needed using, so I have a fairly good stash of veg in the freezer. I also picked 5 more cues and made more bread and butter pickles, :D I have three large jars now, and I have given one to my aunt who visited yesterday. Picked a load more toms too, which I will skin and freeze later.

Need to put the rubbish out this morning, and have a quick tidy round.

Hugs to all in need, have fun all x
