Anyone know the cheapest tickets for my daughter (aged 17) and me please? We live near Woking and are going to Edinburgh (university open day) on Thurs 6 Sept any time, returning Fri 7 Sept. Not yet sure what time we will be returning but will probably be leaving Edinburgh 3.30 or later.
I have a Family railcard but she is too old to qualify.0 -
Family Railcard Question:
Q. If i book a trip for me and my young son for end of August now and book tickets now online saying we have a family railcard. but only buy the card a few days before travelling is that acceptable? (just to avoid losing alomost a months use and so we dont miss the cheap fares for end of aug).
thanks0 -

That's fine. The railcard needs to be valid when you travel, not when you buy the tickets.0 -

I actually work on the railway and although there is no harm in doing this,
people have been fraudulently buying tickets this way and workers on the railway have been advised that the customer has to produce a valid railcard before a ticket can be sold. This is usually using our discretion so be aware you might have to buy the railcard when you buy the ticket.
Edit: Also when booking online im pretty certain you need to have your railcard number as this is printed on your tickets.0 -
