Not sure im in the right thread ?
Im looking at the above journey on Scotrail on June 28th coming back the same day
2A dults travelling up and 2 adults and 2 children coming back , i think the cheapest is £50 or so return ???????????/ If thats the case i might as well drive but a day or so earlier ive drove from Yorkshire to Scotland ! so id love to let the train take the strain and avoid the A9 !
Can anyone see this journey cheaper ? Or just thinking could i not get a ticket Edinburgh toInverness return on a special deal they do and get on at Pitlochry ????
Many thanks0 -
This forum is great!
Is there any way I can find out about split ticketing myself? I do have several journeys I plan to make over the next 2 months.
thanks

Condition 16 of the National Rail Conditions of Carriage says:
"16. Starting, breaking or ending a journey at intermediate stations
You may start, or break and resume, a journey (in either direction in the case of a return ticket) at any intermediate station, as long as the ticket you hold is valid for the trains you want to use. You may also end your journey (in either direction in the case of a return ticket) before the destination shown on the ticket. However, these rights may not apply to some types of tickets for which a break of journey is prohibited, in which case the relevant Train Companies will make this clear in their notices and other publications."
Generally, you are not allowed to 'travel short' with the outward portion of a saver return or any advance purchase tickets. Other tickets with 'walk-up' fares e.g Standard Day Return/Cheap Day Returns are OK.
You generally are allowed to travel short on the outward portion of a saver return as the conditions don't prohibit it, the National Conditions of Carriage state that is travelling short is banned it would be stated in the conditions of the tickets, there is no such restriction in the conditions of Saver returns.0 -
although it does say that you cant break your journey unless it is a train change. We’ve had to remove your signature because your opinion differs from ours. We need to purchase 2 one way tickets from Gatwick to Southampton for mid-October to travel early afternoon. Husband is over 65 but I´m not. I'm just totally confused by the range of tickets etc available and the thought of ringing enquiries....well you get a different answer every time
my questions are>
1 can we purchase over internet?
2 when is the best time to buy, now, month before journey, what?
3 what ticket is best?
4. Will they need proof of husband´s age (national express didn´t when we bought tickets on internet, just ticked the relevant box, If I´d known I could have said I was over age too and got a discount:rolleyes: )
Is there any other info we should know? Thanx
Hope this is the right thread or should I have started a new one?

My wife and I are going to London (travelling from Leeds or Doncaster) on the 21/9/07 coming back on 22/9/07.I set a reminder on my phone to book exactly three months before this date hoping to get the cheapest fares and having just checked trainline I was shocked at the £150 quoted return price!!We would like to depart at lunchtime on the Friday and come back same time on Saturday.I would have expected the price to be no more than £25 each.Is this normal? Can I expect the price to go down over the next few days?Is there some special event on in London over this weekend? Many thanks, Foxy.A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Hi all.
I'm taking my daughter to a cheerleading competition as a surprise on the 8th July! Can't wait!
We're travelling return from East Croydon --> Brighton. The cheapest price I've been quoted is £23.40 return for the both of us!!
Does anyone know of any cheaper tickets I could get from somewhere?"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
