hello guys and gals
Im traveling from inverness to edinburgh waverly on the 11/11/11 and return on 13/11/11 as it my aniversary i would like to save on the travel to i can splash out on dinner and the like ,i was going to book it on mytrainticket.co.uk at a cost of £37 return when i refreshed the page it said tickets are not avalable but you could buy these tickets at £69 for the same times i wanted the first time , is there any code out there or no of any other sites that do it cheaper please help !!!
If you buy from the East Coast Website you can get these prices;
Advance singles £10.30 (out) and £19.55* (rtn) = £29.85
Off Peak Return (East Coast trains only) £43.70
Off Peak Return via Aviemore £52.70
*10% online discountWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Also, I had a look at splitting at various points Inverness->Edinburgh and could not find any savings.
Edit: The "via Aviemore" ticket includes travel on First Scotrail services too which is why it is more expensive (even though the East Coast only one is via Aviemore as well).
Edit: There is also club 55 if you are old enough:

I am proposing to buy train tickets for travel between Reading and Cardiff on 5 December, going from Reading to arrive at Cardiff at about 9am and returning from Cardiff at about 4pm.
The cheapest tickets I have found using redspottedhanky are £27 out, £15.50 return without a railcard, and £17.80 out, £10.25 return, with a 16-25 railcard.
The railcard costs £28, but http://www.16-25railcard.co.uk/new allows a 10% discount, for a cost of £25.20.
I would be grateful for some advice on whether there is a better way or deal for the travel tickets and railcard, and on people's experience of using the redspottedhanky website, where I have a £10 voucher.
Thanks.0 -
Redspottedhanky are just as good as any of the rail booking sites, no booking fee etc so I use them purely as I am stocking up loyalty points.
I would buy a 16-25 card as you are bound to find uses for it as the year goes on. That fare seems pretty reasonable, the only way I could think to make it cheaper is to split at Didcot Parkway (not all trains stop here, but is a good splitting point) or Bristol Parkway.0 -
It is worth knowing that if you have any Tesco points these can be converted to rewards where £10 of points will get you £30 worth of RSP tickets.
I find that RSP prices are sometimes a pound or so more expensive than the prices on https://www.eastcoast.co.uk"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Southern are offering 6.06% cashback via topcashback. Haven't tried it yet as still have RSH points to use.
(Southern is just another WebTIS front end, like RSH - the underlying booking engine is the same)0 -

Try
London to Crewe Super Off Peak Return £23.50 London Midland trains only
Crewe to Blackpool North Off Peak Return £32.70
Total £56.20 takes a bit longer as it's the stopping service from London to Crewe and not the fast direct Virgin service.
PS. Don't use the trainline as they charge fees, buy direct from any train companies website.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

It is possible to get advance singles on the London Midland leg for £11.50 London-Crewe on services from 7:47 to 13:46 and £8 or £11.50 Crewe-London on services from 9:33 to 17:33 - saving an additional £1 to £4.00.0 -
