Thanks Keithp & Miller for your quick response

Oh I see it's £20 return for me and hubby, must have read it wrong,

So we go for the £20 return on the Friday then get the SuperOffPeakReturn at £7.50 each for the Saturday is that right?

Do we have to book these in advance or on the day?

    Thanks again you two

    Buy them on the day.

Check for a one day travelcard also - it covers the tube, buses, etc, and is usually cheaper than buying a separate travelcard when you get to London. Certainly with the cheap day - not always with the superoffpeak

Where can I find an update of the ATOC Booking Horizons page in a week or two?
    Oops..
That wasn't a very good link was it?

Try this one, then click on booking horizons down left hand side.

Booking Horizons can be found on the National Rail Enquiries site
    http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/booking_horizons.html
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

    Hello,

I'm a wanna be money saver - can anyone help me? :j

I live in Birmingham and and a close family member is having to move to Northampton for specialised hosptial treatment.

I am debating the best way to get there, and thought I would investigate the train lines.

I was amazed to discover a month's season ticket between Birmingham Internation and Northamption totals nearly £150.00. Worse still, a six month season ticket will cost £871.00!!

To add insult to injury, the ticket will only allow me to travel between Birmingham and Northampton - it's not like I can go anywhere I want!

I have tried to contact the LondonMidland rail line directly but they transferred me to the big daddy of National Rail Enquiries.

I am flexible with when I can travel - it will be mostly off peak.

Any, any, any help would be most appreicated!

Hi LolaRose, I've just PM'd you, let me know if I can be of help!

Hi all, does anyone out there know the cheapest way to get from London to Pwllheli, North Wales. Last minute holiday to Haven for the children. Thanks in advance.

    If you give us some dates we could help a lot more, but the best bit of advice is to get a Family and Friends Railcard, use the code below to get it at a discounted price;

20% of Family and Friends Railcards, £20.40 for a Year

    Promotion Code: NXEC20
    Offer closes: 31 August 2009

When? Date and time of day.

Will you be coming back sometime? Or just a single? Again date and time?

How many adults? How many children?

Thanks for repying, it was late and brain dead :o. We are a party of 5, 2 adults and 3 children aged 5,5 & 10. Travel dates are Saturday 29 Aug anytime (or as earlier as cheaply possible) and returning Monday 31 Aug (as late as cheaply possible). Once again thanks for responding

Definitely get a Friends & Family Railcard, as Livingthedream says.
Advance tickets that are cheaper than walk-up fares are not available, or no longer available.
Your best bet is to to get offpeak return from London to Pwllheli.
With the railcard, the complete price for all five of you is £120.65.
Without the railcard, the complete price for all five of you is £223.30.

You can buy these tickets on the day if you want, but get that railcard application in now!

National Express is about the same price with a family coach card, but it takes over ten hours!
But train journey is seven hours plus though.
