By using Advance Singles and splitting at Birmingham it can be done for £68.00.
Compared to a walk up Off Peak Return (not London) of £135.40, seems like a "really good saving" to me.

I've used Taunton for your starting point simply because its nearer to Newcastle than your alternatives. Slightly higher fares may be available from Tiverton or Exeter StD, but I haven't checked.

I'm taking my 17 year old daughter to a university open day in London during the week in September. We are travelling to Waterloo from Yeovil junction.....on line it says £48 return each...does anybody know of any discount codes?

Have you got any dates and arrival time into London and a prefered time to leave London. One Money saving tip is if she likes that Uni and will be doing this trip often is to get a 16-25 railcard, use discount code Save10 to get a 10% discount on the price of the card.

As you haven't given an exact date or times, I have made some assumptions.
Lets say 29 Sept, and you want to get there in the morning and return after 5pm.

Outbound leave Yeovil Junc at 08:20 arr Waterloo 10:49. £10.00 Advance Single.
Return leg leave Waterloo at 20:20 arr Yeovil Junc 22:49. £10.00 Advance Single.

Of course, for other dates and times the fares may be different.

Megatrain have fares from £6 per person each way on 29 Sept.

Make massive savings on selected all-operator flexible West Coast Mainline tickets that can be used for faster Virgin services tomorrow only (Sunday 6 Sept)!
As London Midland is running very few trains, tickets for London Midland will be valid on Virgin Trains amongst others, so I assume that includes tickets marked 'Via London Midland Only'.

Instead of £60.30 Off Peak Return per adult from London to Crewe on any operator tomorrow, travel on Virgin Trains for the London Midland Super Off-Peak Return fare of £20 return per adult! That's a saving of £40.30 per adult!

Savings can also be had on the route to Birmingham. Instead of £42 Off Peak Return per adult for any operator, pay £15 for a Super Off Peak Return per adult! That's a saving of £27 per adult! It's even cheaper than the £19.50 return price that Chiltern Railways are selling... and much faster too!

Note:
These savings apply on the following Virgin Trains routes only:
- Crewe – Stafford – Nuneaton – London Euston
- Rugby - Milton Keynes – Watford Junction – London Euston
- Stoke – London Euston
- Wolverhampton - Birmingham – Coventry - London Euston
