Rail Travel: Tips on Cheap Tickets

No don't get a separate travelcard for the tube - the fare of £30 which is a superoff peak one day travelcard includes it.
But there is a cheaper way - SW trains are doing a 'midsummer madness' sale of £10 return tickets. You would need a travelcard for the tube/journey to Wembley in this event - zones 1-4 is £6.30
None of these tickets need be bought in advance - they are all the same price on the day.0 -
Anyone know if I can still use an adult ticket if bought in advance using a family and friends rails card, but the child cant go on the day due to unforseen circumstances?0

Sorry no you can't. A child must travel for the tickets to be valid0 -

Thought I'd found a deal on Hastings to London, South-something trains £10 return. Gives all times of travel (leave 9.47) and one change - Hamden park. Says £10 BUY, so i click BUY and the only time I can travel at £10 is 16.20!! Bit of a mickey take showing the times and BUY, then u cant buy!
Best I can find is £27.20 return, including travelcard.
Can anyone find better? 2 adults, 1 under 5years (I know free, but not sure if a deal could get us cheaper!)
THANKS!!I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!:mad:0 -
A Little Stressed, when do you want to travel? Date? Day of week? Time of day? Single or return? Origin=Hastings, but Destination?
I'm a bit puzzled because the 09:47 train doesn't go via Hampden Park (on a weekday it doesn't).0 -
tomorrow, return to London (any station) morning, about 9.30 (give or take if cheaper) Will look again at the Hamden park one and see! (I am very big stressed today, so brain like goo!)I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!:mad:0

Singles for the return journey are also available at £3, or £4.50 each.
Best bargains can be had from Southern's website... then choose "Southern trains only".0
