Can anyone help me find the cheapest way to get to Skegness tomorrow afternoon.
Coach with nx are full. Its for 1A 1C and we are returning on 30th Dec. Traveling from anywhere in london. Cheapest i found is with Trainline @£82 return. I don't even mind two singles or just a single there as i can get the nx coach back. No railcard but I have a nx coach card

You are too late for cheap singles on the train - bookings closed at 6pm today - if there were any left.

You might as well get that £82* return - a single will be only pence less. Don't buy it from the trainline, they charge a fee - just buy it at Kings Cross on the day.

*assuming that's total for both of you

You could save a few ££ by buying a family railcard - brings the total cost down to about £70 including the railcard. You can buy it at the same time as you buy your ticket. It will be quicker if you can get the application form in advance and fill it in.

I did look at split ticketing at Peterborough but it didn't help

Just had a quick look and there 2 cheap options both with YP R'card
    1. Off Peak Day return £19.45 (Back same day)
    2. Off Peak Return £26.05 (Back next day)

Only restriction is that the outward journey can't be made before 09.30 as these are walkon fares you can buy them at the station before you travel.

we are looking for cheap rail fares to inverness on 02/01/2009 or 03/01/2009 from either kirkcaldy or markinch fife. any help apriciated as we are buying a car and will still need to get it home:D
What's for you won't go past you
  • Try splitting your ticket at Perth i got (via national express website) £31.60 kirkcaldy - inverness but splitting at perth £5.70 Kirkcaldy - Perth and £21.60 Perth - Inverness saving nearly £5. Per person. All walk-up fares available from station.
  • I need a return from Coventry to London Euston. I usually get it for between £11 and £16. I have been trying for 3 days and have only been able to get fares for £45+ (when the websites are actually functioning that is  )

    Any tips? Cheers

WHEN do you want to travel?? Makes a huge difference.

A possible cheaper alternative is to travel via XC to Leamington then Chiltern to London Marylebone - a bit slower, but can be cheaper.

Or via Northampton with London Midland - ditto

However sounds as though something is wrong if you are travelling off-peak. The walk on fare with Virgin is less than £40, nowhere near £45.

Beware with Virgin, you must buy a ticket before travel, or a full open fare is payable, much more than £45. It's not a pay-train service on WCML.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
