Rail Travel: Tips on Cheap Tickets
Comments
-
I am planning to travel from Edinburgh to London on 19th February, returning on 23rd.
The tickets have just been released and the cheapest fare I can get is a Super Off Peak Return costing £87.05 for myself and my daughter - using my Family & Friends Railcard.
Usually there are cheaper single fares available but the cheapest I can find is £86 for the two of us - one way! I am shocked at the increase in price - we travelled down in June using two singles for £55 return!
Is there any way I can go for less or have I just got to accept that £87 is the best I will be able to find the fare for?0 -

Just be patient and wait for the cheap advance singles to be released.
Reservations have been released, yes - but only for full price tickets at present. The singles will come along sooner or later. Maybe a day or so, maybe a week or so.0 -

Hi everyone-
Im traveling from Bangor(North Wales) to Manchester Piccadilly on 13th December and i used to be able to split my journey and get to Singles for £6.60, but it's now gone up to £17.95 for 2 singles. It's £20 for a return with a railcard but im just woundering if anyone knows were i might get it any cheaper for the two singles? any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The cheap Advance tickets are now back on sale, I think there was a problem with the booking websites yesterday as I had the same problems.

Well the family and friends railcard website still says at least one child must travel. Whilst I hesitate to say I don't believe you, until you give your source for this, I don't.0 -

In some areas such things exist, in others not.
As you don't say where you live, nor how many days a week you are travelling it's impossible to tell0 -

See if where you live is listed hereDid you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0
