Need to get from Cardiff to Lincoln next week. Cheapest rail ticket I've found is £60, although booking separate tickets from Cardiff to Nottingham and then from Nottingham to Lincoln seems to only cost £30 even though they are the same trains! Is this correct/possible and it there a cheaper solution that anyone knows of?
Thanks
Dan
Not sure if there is a cheaper solution but your option is possible so long as the train stops at the connecting station (Nottingham?). You do not need to get off, but it must have stopped so that theoretically you could have made the “change” physically.0 -

Thanks. I think it is two different trains as there's a wait of about 20 mins. Just surprised that it costs half as much to book them separately as it does to book the same seats as one journey, but then I guess that's the whole point of this thread - so thanks to the OP for saving me £30..0 -
I want to travel from London to Manchester on the 31st of December (reach Manchester between 11:00am and 1:15pm).
I want to return on the same day from Manchester to London (leave Manchester after 6:30pm).
I don't mind travelling by coach or by train.
The cheapest I can find right now is to go from London to Manchester by Megabus for £7, and return by Virgin trains for £27.
It is the return leg that I am finding the hardest to book because there are no coaches after 6pm (latest is 6pm by National Express) and the trains are too expensive.
Any suggestions? Does anyone know when Virgin releases more tickets? Or do you think they have sold out for the times I require on the return leg?
Thanks in advance for your help!
P.s. I am a bit tight with the times as I am attending a football match which will be between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. Therefore I need to reach Manchester latest by 1:30pm and the earliest I can leave is 6:30pm.0 -
I can't find anything cheaper than £27 coming back - but bear in mind that this is First Class.sorry no links in signatures by site rules - Forum Team 20
