    1. Did you get to see Oasis at Heaton Park?
    2. Why do you want your money back if you got what you originally paid for?
    3. Do you really believe anything that comes out of Liam Gallagher's mouth? :rotfl:

I too went to the concert, I applied for the refund following the instructions on the Oasis website and I received my refund about 3 weeks ago.

On the form I explained that the tickets were in my name, but had been purchased using my fathers credit card. Simply because I don't have a credit card.

    The only address available was

    "OHP, P.O. Box 6925, London W1A 3UT"

I think a lot of people will get rejected because the tickets had to arrive at the above address "no later than Friday the 12th June" only 8 days after the concert.

I cannot see why they would not issue a refund if they did not have a valid reason, or there was an error. After all, they have issued 20,000 refunds already.

I can understand why people including myself applied for a refund. I missed a fair few songs of the set because I had to travel back to Leeds, a lot of people will have travelled further than myself and will have missed a lot more of the show.

Also the atmosphere at the concert just went down like a lead balloon when the speakers kept blowing.

They offered a refund and as far as the majority of people that put in their applications, they have paid the refund.

Personally I think that it was a brilliant gesture by Oasis. :T
  • Looks like I'm not alone on this one then. Am doubtful of getting any money back but am contacting trade descriptions on it and the M.E.N. Very badly handled by whoever Oasis employed to do it. There are numerous stories of problems on other sites even if you're lucky enough to get a cheque eg. wrong names.

And no, I didn't get what I paid for. I didn't pay for being in a near riot situation only calmed down by Oasis making false promises about 'Everyone will get a refund'.

I don't agree the gesture was brilliant or Oasis would have tried their best to honour the promise and not try every which way to get out of it. I don't have any reason to think (and none was indicated) why my refund wasn't paid except for it being a lottery of the money saving kind.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I disagree with the above, there was no where near a riot situation at all.

Any booing and heckling was done in jest and there was a lot of banter going on between the fans and the band. The band themselves were upset about the problems.

The band offered the refunds as a gesture of goodwill only. It wasn't the promoters or anybody else, so there is no point complaining about them.

The gig still went ahead and they over ran the curfew to fit in all the songs, so if you stayed you would have got what you paid for. Nobody ever said that the show was cancelled, there were updates displayed on the big screens to let everyone know what the problems were and that they were being sorted out.

That is why I believe the gesture was brilliant, because they did not have to offer any sort of refund at all. However, they did offer the refund and seemingly the majority have received there refunds.

The show was scheduled to finish at 11pm, it actually finished at 11.20pm. That also means that the guy who left at 10pm, will have left when I believe Oasis were actually playing? I am pretty sure they were playing at 10pm.

The band played all of the songs and more than they were actually supposed to.

I couldn't stay and missed a fair few songs, so that is the reason I applied for the refund, and got it.

There were around 70,000 people at the concert and when I left, the park was still absolutely packed out.

I honestly cannot see why the people organising refunds would pay out 20,000, but then not payout on others without a valid reason?

Have you thought that the post may have been delayed or you didn't fill the form in correctly?

Well i saw people fighting near the back of the crowd, as i had moved back after having several cups of god knows what being chucked about and was not about to be hit being 3 months pregnant - yes pregnant Liam8282 therefore not a guy but a woman ;)

I know we got back to the car at 10pm, so excuse me for not accounting for the time that it took us to walk back, even so, i was disappointed, it was getting rowdy and was not going to risk being hit or anything, and the lack of security didn't give much confidence what-so-ever, with the lack of information being given we could of been stood around for god knows how long.

I posted my application form completed correctly, and the postage was signed for on 10th June 2009 via recorded delivery, there were two tickets included, but as my previous link advises there are many complaints, and those from what i have seen a lucky amount have received cheques, some of those with incorrect names on them and other means of preventing people from cashing in the cheques - even so, i stand by my word and i have taken this up with trading standards who are looking into the matter for me - you can not make a promise whether it is a gesture or not, and then retract it, especially when it has been recorded and so widely publicised in the media, it is simply not the right thing to do.

Oh and Manchester2009 - information from stopcryingyourheartoutnews.blogspot.com/2009/06/details-to-get-refund-for-oasis-in. html
have advised that they have contacted Oasis management who are looking into the matter because of all of the complaints on that blog.

What if Noel or Liam had said, "Everyone here tonight gets a free Rolls Royce." Would you be on the MSE boards asking when yours would be delivered?

I still fail to see why the concert promoter should apparently have to refund everyone just because one of the band members made a silly comment on stage.

As the promoters work on behalf of the band, it is quite reasonable to take something said by the band as sufficient authority.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Just FYI, it was managed by Simon Moran of SJM Promotions. Hope this helps someone. I didn't get to see Oasis either but as I won the tickets in a competition, of course, am not in line for a refund. I did have to pay for travel and food etc and it was a shame I missed it but that's the way it goes. :)

This is the latest from Oasis and their promoters - personally they are moving the goal posts to suit their desire - total cop-out but i will still continue through TS.

From inet OASIS HEATON PARK REFUNDS
    31 July 2009

All refund applications for the Oasis Heaton Park concert received by the closing date (12th June) have now been processed and by now all applicants should have received their cheque or a letter explaining why their application was unsuccessful.

If you have applied for a refund and have not received a response, or received a cheque written out incorrectly please email help@oasisheatonpark.com with your name and address. This email address (which will remain open until the 31st August) is ONLY for applicants who have not received any response or have an incorrectly completed cheque. No other correspondence will be entered into.

Ticket holders are reminded of the following:

    - Only applications received by the 12th June enclosing the original tickets are eligible.
    - Only valid tickets scanned on entry at Heaton Park are eligible. If you did not go to the show you cannot make a claim.
    - Incorrectly completed forms are ineligible. Organisers simply cannot process these.
    - Ticket purchases for the concert were restricted to a maximum of 6 per person. Single applications for more than the 6 ticket maximum are therefore ineligible.
    - Only tickets purchased directly from authorised ticket agencies are eligible. If you bought a ticket on eBay, from a tout or other secondary source you cannot claim.

The Heaton Park refund offer was a discretionary offer made by Oasis and their promoters. The organisers decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

I don't understand why you have said they are moving the goal posts? What have they changed?

What they have done is given people who received incorrect cheques the opportunity to get that sorted out.

They have also made it clear that if you did not get a refund, but did get a response, that there must have been something wrong with your initial application.
