Finally caught up with the thread, spent £17 odd in Asda last night on some frozen veg, loo rolls, cordial, ice cream lollies and some of the 50p bread mixes. I've just updated the total in my signature and I'm a bit worried that I've spent over a third of my budget already with 24 days to go, but as we have lots in, I think I'll be okay, fingers crossed.
Has anybody played with the 50p bread mix? I wondered if it would be okay to add a little cinnamon and sultanas to it to make fruit bread for breakfast toast? Or should I just make it up as a white loaf and continue using my breadmaker recipe for fruit bread? I know its only 50p but don't want to smeg it in and waste money.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this already, if so I apologise, but for those of you with a courgette glut looking for ideas to use them up. There are several recipes in the current (August 09) Asda magazine that you can get in the shop, they have courgette & cheese loaf, stuffed courgettes, courgette & corn fritters with red pepper salsa and courgette flan, none of the delicious tea bread but Asda wouldn't think of using a SAVOURY veg to make a yummy cake with lol!

morning everyone
well called into Aldi's yesterday to buy milk and also bought bag of frozen raspberries. I am expecting guests on Thursday and thought I might make a cheesecake for dessert. Didn't take a trolley to avoid temptation and just walked quickly through the store only picking up items I had gone in for.:A
Well after success with food cupboards I am now moving on to others. Goodness knows how many packs of freezer bags, food bags, etc and rolls of foil, clingfilm, greaseproof paper I havebut at the end of today all will be revealed.
Then it will be the cupboards with dishes, pots and utensils in them as I am fed up moving stuff I don't use to get into stuff I do use:mad:. Hope the charity shops have plenty of room as I will have a lot to donate by the time I am finished.
Having scrambled eggs for lunch and hm fish 'n' chips for dinner. Keeping it nice and easy today as I know by the time I have finished emptying, cleaning and reorganising cupboards I will be shattered.
Hope everyone has a really good day.It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
all done, thanks for pointing out the broken link :T
Thanks rosieben.:A
Morning everyone - lollyfin - just wanted to say thanks for mentioning the SC for bulking out the Mince, it worked a treat and everyone said it was a lot nicer than usual, seems creamier and softer so I shall definitely do it that way in future.:j
Should be another NSD today although we are running low on milk so I may have to venture to Iceland and ONLY BUY MILK.
Have a good day everyone.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

....... but you have to buy something don't you? Was thinking of the oil mister as I don't have one, but think it would come in handy.

As for having to buy something when you go to these things--yep, you do feel as though you should. Don't suppose there's a wedding/ house-warming/ birthday/ anniversary coming up that would warrant a small gift?
Whilst I'm here, please would you do me a huge favour & ask me every now & again, what I have used from the freezerEvery night I fall asleep with thoughts of 'x is in there & we can have y on such-a-such'....but then I fancy something else when I get up next morning :doh:You can see now why menu planning would help but rarely does!

Good morning all, a NSD for me yesterday :T .I might go to Mr T today for the weekly supply of cat food/litter which could wait till at least fri but if i go tonight i get a lift there and back
so that saves me some money on taxi fare, I could do with popping into iceland for some bread but have 2 uncut loafs in the freezer so i will probably defrost them which means i won't have to go out in the rain :j.

Hi guys, got my first shop in today, total cost of £27.41 plus £9 for the taxi! under budget but still...I hate having to pay for transport!! ... !
that's why I like my online shopping! I dont have a car anymore and rely on lifts with my sis to get to morrisons or lidl; even if I had my car still, I couldn't travel to the store for any less than the (sainsbugs) delivery charge of £3.50 - I'm retired so can choose the cheapest slot but not so easy if you're working I guess... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
