I love this programme, and those students in last nights programme were really sincere I thought. I was also pleased that they had carried on with the economy way of eating after the programme had finished. So many times with other programmes you get the person saying "oooh wouldn't have thought of that, must try it etc etc.." and then you find that they have reverted back to how they were before the programme tried to help.
I have even been converted into boning a chicken instead of buying chicken thighs, although I did say to DH that somehow I don't think you can get 6 thighs off a chicken to use in our casseroles etc.. So I am going to look for a decent bird in the butchers/costco when we go next time.
Oooh and an added bonus I was thinking of starting up a subscription for "Eat In" magazine and would you believe it, they had the Economy Gastronomy book as a subscription gift. So of course I had to get it, as I always buy the magazine each month anyway so it wasn't as if I was spending the money unnecessarily. Now I don't have to order the book from Amazon..lolMortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

One hand up here admitting to being guilty of that.....
but I know DS wouldn't entertain it unless I blended it anyway (doesn't like tomatoes or onions, but eats shop bought tomato based pasta sauces and doesn't notice very finely chopped onion in mince based dishes), so hardly seems worth the effort while I'm still cooking for him
I have used this recipe for years: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1062571/Jamie-Olivers-classic-tomato-spaghetti.html it is from Jamie's Dinners. It cooks down to a pretty smooth sauce, and even when my children claimed they didn't like tomatoes or chilli they still at tons of the stuff.0 -
I would have known how to make the tomato sauce before, but watching the programme actually prompted me to do it, and also made me think of some new things it can be used for.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

It was £27.00 for a year, unfortunately it wasn't a trial. But I thought as I was paying £2.50 a month anyway, and the book would have cost me £10.00 from Amazon then this was definately a moneysaving. Unfortunately the offer isn't on their website you have to buy the October issue of Eat In as you have rip out and send in the DD form.Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Just gave in to temptation and got the book _ only cost me £2 as I had a Mr T token for £8 and it was reduced. Am hoping they will get Jamies America in soon for £10 tooas I have another £8 token. I find it hard to spend these as I never spend £8 in one go at Tescos. (wish they would send them in £1 or £2 ones like they used to.Surely they can tell all my shops there are a coupla quid tops.)Had a look at it in WH Smith and there seems to be a lot in there i'd cook. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

I am amazed. My Mum - I have been trying to get her to watch this for weeks. She watched last nights and wants to make the Tom sauce Meatballs & Fish pie. My mum is kinda lazy when it comes to cooking, and she has me printing off any "easy " looking recipes.:j
to me, that really confirms this show is reaching the audience, and making food more approachable (especially to make my Mum keen to cook! )
Also making flapjacks for her to take to work, so maybe, next thing I know she will be making them?!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Really enjoyed the programme last night, the best yet!
I always buy a whole chicken and joint it. Have taught Oh to do it also. I sometimes roast the carcass and strip any meat for sandwiches.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0
