I enjoyed tonights programme the boys seemed to acheive a great deal and such nice people. didnt rate the cookies though - too expensive - but then again we have the famous Hobknobs recipe and nothing can top that for price and taste!
Those boys can come round and cook for me any time."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I thought that was a brilliant way to solve their dilema tooButterfly_Brain wrote: »I loved their make shift scales! Lol
I thought they seemed pricey, but compared to the bags of 'bakery' cookies in the supermarkets (now over £1 for 4!) they actually seem very good value. My biggest issue would be the cost of running the oven just for half a dozen biscuits  I don't do a lot of oven cooking - and most of what I've done in the last 12 months has fitted into my combi, so not even a chance of having the oven on for something else with a spare shelf I can useI enjoyed tonights programme the boys seemed to acheive a great deal and such nice people. didnt rate the cookies though - too expensive - but then again we have the famous Hobknobs recipe and nothing can top that for price and taste!

In my Uni hols I used to go home to my mum and dad. I didn't pay them anything, but I did clean the house, do the shopping and cook them lovely meals.0 -

Ahhhh, Rosemary, this isn't a recent thing! I was at Uni 82-85! My dd treats this place like a hotel. She has had gap year and just about to go to Uni at the end of the month. Unfortunately for her the place doesn't function like a hotel really...I don't go and fix her bed and room up every day!
DS 16 much better and helps as and when requested."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

UPDATE! Made the fishcakes and the tartar sauce (missed capers, as it seems we have finished them - they always go quick in our house). Made 12 fishcakes in total, so that is 4 meals for us (1 cake for me and 2 for OH). I served them with green beans, asparagus and biled potatoes. Oh, an the tartar sauce (we called it green sauce to go with the fish as it is not like the usual tartar sauce we had before).
So, the total :
Poached salmon - 1
Chowder - 3
Fishcakes - 4
Gravalax - 1 (any left over will be for starters)
Freezer: Salmon fillets - 3
Total: 12 meals for 2 people, making 24 portions, makes £1.13 for salmon per serving. Yes, you could possible make the whole meal for this price, but then, we had really nice meals so far!
Thanks ginvtz - hmmm I'm thinking next time I've got a day off work, I'm out to the salmon suppliers in the village....
But will ask them to take the head off the salmon!!!

I don't but do you read papers and watch tv about how children are behaving these days or even see them out and about misbehaving in public in ways that would never be tolerated when I was a child?zippychick wrote: »I think that's a shocking statement! Reverbe, why do you seem to have such contempt for children and anything related to them?

When I saw this surely to have the oven on for SIX hours would negate the cost saving....redballoon wrote: »i will have a go at drying tomatos in the oven to make "sun dried tomatoes" i love them!
