Hang on, she said they saved £100 per week, making a massive saving to them of £5,200 per year.
I ma be wrong, but don't students spend most of the year living at home and sponging off their parents?0 -

I really enjoyed this week and what a lovely bunch of lads.
Pork meal at the end looked fab.0 -
I liked this week's episode, they cooked the sort of thing that my family eat! Liked the meatballs and the fish pie, my family are big pasta eaters so these would go down well. Also liked the cookies, although I think I'd have to make about 6 of those frozen rolls of dough to keep my lot going for long!
Loved it when she got the student to lick the kebab sauce off her finger, how scared did he look! Kebab looked yummy though.0 -
So far we had 3 meals:
1) poached salmon
2 + 3) chowder. Eating a bit more sensibly, we had enough soup for 3-4 meals (there was 3 litres of soup!!!), but in our case it is just 2...
Then we will have:
4) Gravalax, probably with hot potatoes
5) Fishcakes - I expect to have more than 2-4 fishcakes we will need for tonight, so possible another meal or 2 as well.
In the freezer:
6 + 7 + 8) 3 meals are in the freezer (6 fillets of generous size in total)
So, it will be at least 8 meals (2 people = 16 portions). I think it is easily possible to make 12 meals (24 portions) out of the salmon we bought if my OH was not eating for the whole village!!!!
Will let you know once I get to the end with it!!!
UPDATE! Made the fishcakes and the tartar sauce (missed capers, as it seems we have finished them - they always go quick in our house). Made 12 fishcakes in total, so that is 4 meals for us (1 cake for me and 2 for OH). I served them with green beans, asparagus and biled potatoes. Oh, an the tartar sauce (we called it green sauce to go with the fish as it is not like the usual tartar sauce we had before).
So, the total :
Poached salmon - 1
Chowder - 3
Fishcakes - 4
Gravalax - 1 (any left over will be for starters)
Freezer: Salmon fillets - 3
Total: 12 meals for 2 people, making 24 portions, makes £1.13 for salmon per serving. Yes, you could possible make the whole meal for this price, but then, we had really nice meals so far!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

When I was a student you had about three months off in the summer and a month off at Christmas and Easter. So you were in lectures for about 7 months of the year. But not every student goes home and lives off their parents during the hols, I didn't, and I notice at the end that the students were still in the house after their graduation which would probably been mid July so a good while after their actual lectures and exams had finished.0
