I grabbed a box of Ibrufen & a bottle of water & took two tablets & opened the water while wandering around the shop yesterday.
I don't eat stuff, but I often grab a drink that I will pay for at the check out.
That I could understandI just tend to have a stock at home and carry some in my bag so rarely need to buy them to take there and then

Doing Slimming World so can't have any fat on meat.
I used cheap frying steak & cut the tiny bit of fat that was on it, off.
You can cut the fat off stewing steak before cooking too. And don't forget the old trick of letting the stew go cold then skimming any fat off it, or dropping a couple of ice cubes in hot stew and skimming off any fat that clmps round it.
It's a fact that tough cuts of meat do work a lot better in slow cooked stews.....the connective tissue breaks down to give that melt in the mouth tenderness. Frying or other steak just goes dry and stringy. And of course even cheap frying steak costs more than stewing meat.Val.0 -

Another one people don't consider is giving their children an apple or banana to eat on the way round, particularly if it should have been weighed as opposed to out of a multi-pack. I know it is so tempting to keep picking at the grapes, but please remember that the staff do prefer to be paid at the end of the month, rather than given redundancy notice because the firm has gone bankrupt. To you it is a single peach @ 30p, but if you look at how many customers are in the store at the precise time you are there, multiply that by 8 for a 24hr opening & again by 6 for the days in a week......
I used to do this sort of thing all the time...BUT only from something which didn't need weighed or similar. The end of a baguette or a slice of bread etc! And I had no problem handing over an empty juice carton to be scanned. It kept them quiet and that meant I could find and buy everything I needed...ie more money in the till, not less!
I do agree though that folk shouldn't eat away at stuff that needs weighing at the till. That's stealing.Val.0 -
