    Hi all,

The letters that LTSB have sent to me are, I am sure, designed to totally confuse and bewilder everyone receiving them. LTSB are masters of sending you to 'the most appropriate dept' I have played them at their game this time, I have insisted I get named contacts for these 'most appropraite dept' although I dont expect to get it, and no doubt will get another fob off letter.

I have also gone to FSO with all letters LTSB have sent, and told LTSB that I have done so, no doubt they will point the FSO to the 'most appropriate dept' too!

Regardless of the outcome of my own claim, they cant be allowed to do this to the public. They have got a blank cheque book, with all customers names written in them, and when the banks start to get short, they start writing cheques on our behalf and disguise them as 'charges'. The banking system is more bent than the House of Commons and the House of Lords! (in my opinion)

LOL :D yes, their Recovery team is not doing what they are supposed to do i agree. Confusing to say the least.

Send copies of your letters to MSE Wendy or Guy Anker on this iste, they might be able to get some sort of sane response from Lloyds on your behalf.
    Owed out = lots.

I can totally sympathise with what everyone here is saying about LTSB. we put in a claim for nearly £10,000 of charges at the beginning of this year under Financial Hardship criteria (we have priority debt arrears which are not on a payment plan) and all we have had from LTSB are about 20 fob-off letters of various kinds - very similar in content to those quoted on this thread - typical generic nonsense.

We have now filed our complaint with the FOS and sent them copies of all correspondence etc. We have also sent a complaint to the FSA - they said in their response that our complaint has been passed to the department dealing with monitoring firms' compliance with the Waiver. We didn't send copies of the correspondence we have received from LTSB to the FSA, but might now do so!

Something has to be done about LTSB - they seem to think they are above the law and that the FSA guidelines don't apply to them:mad:

Yes your right, good luck with the claim, they should of at least sent you a expenses form if you said financial hardship, but LTSB are not even sending these to people.

I wish I could agree with you but I don't unfortunately.

"1. Firms to use their own records, where available (e.g. account activity and existing
borrowing), to consider initially if the customer might be experiencing FD. Only
when this cannot be determined will it be appropriate for a firm to gather more
information, i.e. issue an income/expenditure form ("VE form"). (FSA accepts that in
a majority of cases it will be necessary to issue an l/E form, in particular before
    considering rejecting a claim ofFD.)"

I guess I better reveal my source of the whole info ;)

The above I refer to a lot on MSE with regards to the March 19th 2009 letter about FSA waiver and dealing with it.

I know there are probably several hundreds of people on here all just as frustrated with LTSB - but they are driving me mad!!!!

In short - Lloyds TSB are a bunch of incompetent, irresponsible, dodging idiots! And as for the banks.....don't get me going!

Perhaps you could say the same about yourself. If you had been organized with your finances you would not be in this position now.
  • I share ur views with lloyds tsb. I had an overdraft with them about 2 years ago. It was for £1000 and like most young people, i lived in my overdraft, something i now regret. Anyway one day out of the blue i got a letter saying they were putting my overdraft back down to £750, i could not afford to pay the difference, i phoned them and explained to them the situation and they said that they could not help me and i had to just put in what i could, i was putting in £100 a month, it was all i could afford as i have other financial commitments. On top of that they were charging me £10 a day for everyday i was over my overdraft, so my balance was never clearing because of all the bank charges. This was mounting to hundreds of pounds a month, i then started getting letters from their "collections" department saying that if i never paid £600 they would take me to court, after receiving a lawyers letter i was offered to go on a decreasing overdrafts payment plan paying £100 a month and they would freeze the interest. But what they didnt tell me was that my interest for holding the current account would still come off, once again charges started to mount back up. I am now on a plan where i only pay £50 a month, last month i could only put in £30 and for the sake of that extra £20, they are phoning me like 2/3 times a DAY!!!! I am on holiday at the moment, and said to them id phone them on friday and yet i was still getting phone calls, 2/3 times a day its bordering on harrasement, its very destressing and i will be making a formal complaint against them.
Never regret anything that made you smile ;)

I think what the OP was so eloquently saying was that if the Bank had complied with the law on Contract then perhaps he would not be in the position that he finds himself in today. One day we will find out if he was right

I didn't know that. In my case, i did not have any finances i have always been on benefits, and charges came from paypal mistakes ... still, i was never sent a expenses form. CAB said i should of received one.

As for the other posts here slamming me - whatever.

If they are hassling you, you could go to the CAB thats what i did, they sorted out all my debts, i could not live otherwise if they didn't.

  • I've had dealings with Lloyds TSB too which have left me frustrated! Originally the request was for a full breakdown of all my loan instalments to date so I could compare it with my own records. Because of hubby being made redundant and us only surviving on my salary I was paying token payments for a while, then was on a repayment plan etc. Anyway I asked for this breakdown and sent (and received) several letters but no breakdown. I even sent them a letter with a breakdown of what I had paid and asked them to confirm the figures - still nothing. In the end I complained to the Ombudsman about their tactics, their inefficiency and the blatant lies in their literature (if in trouble, talk to us we are here to help - yeah right!!!). Finally a result (with the Ombudsman intervention) and 2 years after the original request!!! I even got £600 in charges refunded to my loan account and a 'goodwill gesture' from the bank of £100 for the inconvenience!!! Funnily enough, I now get statements every six months although the last one said a figure of £421 had bee refunded on my loan account and I have no idea why (more charges being reinbursed perhaps?) Unfortunately now my file has gone to BLS debt collectors and I am having a fight with them over the fact I DO NOT have a spare £8k to pay off my loan and NO I CANNOT afford £100 a month on my loan instalments. They threatened me with an Attachment of Earnings and I have called their bluff and said 'Go ahead', the court will see from the Financial Statement I sent to BLS that I am paying what I can afford (£32 a month). We have to stand up to these bully boy tactics. Besides which, as a tax payer, I own a percentage of LTSB - perhaps I should demand they write off my debt as I don't have the government to bail me out!!
Sorry, went off the subject abit there - I would suggest everyone complain to the Ombudsman about LTSB - lets get the !!!!!!s!!!!
