  • NTL are offering 1meg unlimited BB for £8.99 a month for three months. After that the price goes up but I am pretty sure it is still way less than Zen.

    Check it out.

I have been with NTL for ages with no problems.

    Hi again Deleted_User,

I appreciate what you're saying regarding the fact that Zens offer is capped..it is at 20GB a month, but thats easily enough for my music downloads!

However, I still reckon you could be paying them too much..

    Check out that link again..

    http://www.zenbroadband.com/athome.aspx?page=455

and you'll see that the £24.99 is INC VAT.

Just thought I'd reiterate this so you can make sure you're not being overcharged

Is this for unlimited downloads with no cap or Fair Usage constrictions?

    Sounds quite good if so.

Thsi is totally uncapped as far as I am aware, I have the 2meg connection
and tell you the truth I have never had one email or anything remotely saying
I have over stepped any Fair Use Policy.

I just cant seem to upset them :)

    Electron,

Blueyonder is run by Telewest isnt it?

If so, I can't get it in my area :o

BTW..Regarding your "big white helmet", I wouldnt tell too many people if I were you..

Yes Blueyonder is by Telewest, But I wouldnt rely on Broad Band availability checkers to much I would just phone them and ask as I was told no on a checker site I double checked and Voila yes I could get it.

I know my helmet is a bit grubby and needs a polish. :D
  • Using https://www.adslguide.org comparison data for speed, reliability and customer service, the top 5 ISPs right now (with little to choose between them - see here) are:

    Euro1net

    IDNet

    KeConnect

    NewNet

    Zen

Of these only Euro1Net and Zen are listed in the Top Ten ADSL ISPs at https://www.ispreview.co.uk in 2nd and 3rd places respectively. See Here.

  • I would also look at how many people rated their isp that month aswell. Some of the ones noted above had less than 50 reviews. I'm with ndo broadband and its excellent.

Hi, I am considering moving from BT to Zen. I have been with BT for a few years and the new 12 month contracts that you have to have to get the new speed have really annoyed me(who knows what deals will be available in the next 12 months). I pay approx £21 for option 3 which is with 20gb limit (currently £25.99 for newbies). If I decide to stay with BT, does anyone know if I will have to pay the new prices?

EDIT: Just realised that the £21 is without VAT, so it is effectively £25/month, the same as ZEN.
  • There are most definitely cheaper deals than Zen BUT you do get a one month contract, excellent customer service and the product you get IS what you are paying for. Few other ISPs customers can claim this - in fact - can any? Hence my starting the GOOD ISP thread to find out.

You ought to ask BT if you will have to pay the new prices - don't get caught out AFTER you have begun a new (possible 12 month?) contract.

If you will have to pay the new prices and will be locked into a 12 month contract you may be better off paying a bit extra for the one month contract Zen deal. My deal is also unlimited downloads although only 1mg. The capped deal is 'up to 8mg' the speed of which is quite over-rated as hardly any exchanges are supplying those speeds NOW.

Most ISPs are flogging the 'up to 8mg speed' thing but if your exchange is still in the dark ages, as mine is - then it may be better to buy a speed (at a lower cost) which your exchange CAN supply NOW.

    I think you'll find that's out-of date-info. From https://www.samknows.com
Hats off to BT - All but one of the 5277 exchanges they planned to upgrade to ADSL Max by today were completed successfully. This includes all of the "Green", "Amber" and even the "Red" classified exchanges. The single unlucky exchange was Sheffield. We do not yet know when this will go live.

It is worth noting though that there are still 155 ADSL enabled exchanges that will not yet be able to receive ADSL Max. This may be attributed to a number of different reasons, but the most common is likely to be that the exchange is part of an Exchange Activate scheme.

You can see the list of all ADSLMax exchanges here.

Agree with you about the quality of Zen though.
