I rate my experience with buyers based on the transaction, ie as soon as they have paid, I leave appropriate feedback. If I overcharge on the p&p, I refund them without even being asked for it. If they don't like it, I would try to resolve it (say would as I have not had it happen yet), if they leave negative, o well, they have full right to do so. I have been a buyer and a seller on Ebay for 5 years now and have never had any major problems and have 100% positive. : touch wood :

Fay you just aren't going to win with some folk.
The only point being in this day and age with all the hoops that sellers have to jump through they need every positive they can get to keep ratings respectable for when the buyer from hell arrives.
Since I don't agree with it I don't generally sell now on EBay.0 -

You seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that 'transaction' on ebay means 'payment'

Feedback is meant to give the community an indication of what that person is like to deal with. You appear to be entirely missing that point.

Tajna, feedback is there to rate the transaction as a whole, which you seem to be missing. The whole transaction is not complete until the buyer has received the item.0

As I said in a previous post its the perception of the majority of customers that feedback should be left immediately after they have paid. Since I changed to doing it this way there hasn't been an increase in problem customers but there has been an increase in customer satisfaction. Try it and see.
I used to be someone (and probably on here) who said that as a buyer the best thing was to wait until it was received, I'm happy to admit I was wrong..0 -
On a slight tangent, what really winds me up is buyers who you bend over backwards to help, that then don't leave feedback.
I know it doesn't really matter, but if you've helped them out (e.g. sent if 1st class at no extra charge beacuse you know they want it for a present) then a 'thank you' would be nice.0 -
Be careful. Some buyers wait for you to leave positive feedback then complain and try to get money back from you threatening negative feedback knowing you have already left them positive feedback. I don't leave feedback first now. If the buyer leaves good feedback then all well and good, if they don't leave any feedback, neither do I. Very simple.
(PS The seller I had problems with waited two months before complaining to me! Then left negative feedback without even giving me an option to sort things out.)0 -

They can do that whether you leave them feedback or not. As sellers can't leave negative feedback. Just report them for feedback extortion if they do0 -

If a buyer pays - he has completed his part of transaction and you, as a seller leave appropriate feedback
So what appropriate feedback do you leave? Just "Paid." or "This buyer actually PAID me! Great Ebayer! *****"?

They can, but I have a feeling a lot of them are so anal about feedback that they won't dispute over a perhaps minor issue if it means they don't get their green tick.
The only recourse a seller has now with a nightmare buyer is to not leave feedback at all and respond to any comments in their own feedback.
I stopped leaving feedback first after my first couple of INR claims and a claim about damage to an item that was packed virtually indestructably. Before that I always left it as soon as they paid, just like tajna. Now **** that for a game of soldiers.0
