Jobseekers, advice

There is a tracking period - i think its 26 weeks - for new deal .
However to further complicate things: depending on where you are in the country the New Deal programme is changing dramatically to something called Flexible New Deal which everyone will be doing. This is a staged approach and is more geared at helping individuals. there are 4 stages - if you get to stage 4, ie claiming jsa for 12 months then you will have to participate in some kind of work based training (a bit like current New Deal).
So its impossible to say if you made a new claim if you would go back onto New Deal, or the new Flexible New Deal. If you are still in the tracking period when you make your new claim then you will either go back to New Deal or you will automatically go stright onto the stage 3 of the new Flexible New Deal.
Sorry its such a long winded reply!VBird74 :j0 -

Ha them 13weeks are hell, a4e just want you signed off so they can 'claim' they got you a job and they get a nice big fat paypacket! One of the many reasons i wouldnt do it, i dont want to be stuck doing something i dont want to do, hows putting me a charity shop going to help me get a job in child care??? Silly people, hate them lol
When you say you got a temp and went back on jobseekers, how many weeks was that for them to put you back on new deal??
Thats who i was with A4e lol, To be honest i could have just fillied in my time sheet myself and got the woman at the office i was at to sign it and just not gone atall, they wudnt have noticed, they were supposed to visit you and see how things were going, but nothing....
My temp job was Jan-Sept last year so it was a while, i had just started the 2nd bit of new deal "Employment Zones" when i got my job, so i didnt complete that, so thats were they are taking it from now. This Employments Zones thing seems better though and atleast i dont have to go the job centre to sign on anymore lol, just goes through them.
Cant you just ring and see what they say?0 -
Hi, if you make a claim within 13 weeks of your last one, you WILL be referred back to New Deal to continue where you left off ie to complete the "balance of time" on your 13 week course. If you stay off JSA for over 13 weeks, you will not need to return to New Deal. HTH0

Thanks for all the replies off people, i live at home with my parents so thats how i kind of managed the last 3months, but i cant go on nomore, im in a quite small town, so finding jobs is pretty tough.
Oh i hope your right Albannach, because i dont want to sign back on in a few weeks and put back on the 13 week 'course' with A4e, if anyone has the misfortune to go on that, then i think your see why i want to avoid it at all costs. I got signed off in May because i refused to do it, but it was my 1st query with them ive always done what they say to then, so i should of only had like a 2 - 4 week sanction at the most??
So im hoping when i try in the next few weeks, which will be 15 weeks since i got signed off and i hope it works out, pardon the pun lol
Oh and to say im 22, so was on the young new deal0 -
I work on New Deal ...
On a first occasion, it would be a 2 week sanction for leaving / not starting / being dismissed from a course. A second one would be 4 weeks, third and subsequent 6 months. But you signed off instead?
Bear in mind that if New Deal is still running in your area, then you will be required to re-join it in another 6 months if you are still claiming.0 -

Oh right sorry i didnt know you worked on new deal lol
Um nope i didnt sign off, they signed me off because i didnt turn up for the 'course' i did ring up, but they said just make a new claim at the time, but i thought id leave it, as i would just be put back on it.
Oh i know after 6months id be put back on it, but least that will give me time to find something, not that i havent been trying, just not having any luck
Least i know i can make a new claim now though, so thats helped me alot, thanks0 -
Hi, I'm in the same situation. I went on a 2 week New Deal course I did the full 2 weeks and absolutely hated it, I felt like a child. The people that were in my group all seemed like drug addicts the people that worked there did sod all but drink coffee and look down their noses at you..it was terrible. I found out that I would have to go on a 13 week one after that, so I just didn't sign on again. The thought of doing that for 13 weeks or more made me want to jump off a cliff! I left in May and need to sign back on soon..I just hope I don't get put on that vile New Deal again, it is awful.0

A year is a long time to be signing on, if it was me I'd be jumping through hoops to get a job, including taking work at a charity shop to broaden my skills.

Not very good practice for the job market is it, walking out after two weeks and 'refusing' to do what was asked of you?(AKA HRH_MUngo)
