Hi there, bascially, i was signed on for about a year, and i was on the New Deal, i did the 2week course, which was not to bad, met some nice people and they was fantastic, but then 4weeks later i was put on the 13week course, which i went to and after a few days i refused to do it, had 4 computers, which only 3 worked, they try force you to work in Charity shops and bascially, its slave labour, you dont get a job out of it, so its pretty pointless, espcially as if you the 13week course, your back in the same place as you was before, so as you can guess, i got signed off for refusing to do the course, but its been nearly 3months since i got signed off, and i was wondering is it after 13weeks you can make a 'fresh' new claim??? So i wouldnt get put back on New Deal??
Thanks
Thanks

I dont think you can actually refuse to do the new deal course but i could be wrong,0

I think they would just do a rapid reclaim if you were allowed to sign back on,and you would probably have to do that part of new deal again, i did them 2 courses and stuck them out, they were a load of crap, i was put in a placement in a charitys office and basicly was made to stuff envalopes for most of my days there (about 9 - 10 weeks of my 13weeks :S), and there was no chance of me getting a job there as they were letting staff go while i was there, its since stopped running................... after that i found my own job but it was only temp so im back on job seekers and have just been put back on new deal but its a different stage thank god, hopefully something will come out of it this time0

See thats what im trying to find out really, because i heard that after 13weeks i could make a new claim?? Found a few bits on some forums, but theres no real def answer, if anyone knows, id be so grateful really, then i know what i can do?
Ha them 13weeks are hell, a4e just want you signed off so they can 'claim' they got you a job and they get a nice big fat paypacket! One of the many reasons i wouldnt do it, i dont want to be stuck doing something i dont want to do, hows putting me a charity shop going to help me get a job in child care??? Silly people, hate them lol
When you say you got a temp and went back on jobseekers, how many weeks was that for them to put you back on new deal??0 -
Oh and good luck with the jobs lol0

Simple question then: what sort of job do you WANT to do? and what sort of job WOULD you do?
A year is a long time to be signing on, if it was me I'd be jumping through hoops to get a job, including taking work at a charity shop to broaden my skills.0 -
I thought the new deal thing was for the long term unemployed at the 18 month point!! also as i understand it anyone unemployed and signing on can apply for the new deal training course of their choice at anytime, 1, 2 or 3 months in to their unemployment, i also thought there were a fair few courses to choose from with a recognised qualification at the end...that cant be too bad surely! one thing i do know is that when you embark on the course you have to see it through to it's completion otherwise you can kiss you benefit goodbye...my advise to anyone unemployed and looking for work is to try it out, what have you go to lose? if you find a job leave the course and you don't need the benefit anymore if you can't find work choose what course you take carefully and use the qualification at the end of it to your advantage.0

You can make a rapid reclaim at any time, there is usually a 13 week linking period between when you sign off and when you resign during which time you would be referred back to new deal. If you were sanction prior to closing your claim those sanctions may still be applicable. You could still also face further sanctions for giving up your course last time as sanctions have a 26 week window.
there is also the option that your office is particiaption in the new flexible new deal and mine is, basically when you make a new claim your skills are assesed and because you haven't been working you may find yourself fast tracked to stage 3 and techinacally on a new version of new deal:eek:
What amazes me though is how have you managaed for cash for the last 13 week?
You have been unemployed fro a long period of time and now so are you expecting some magic fairy with a wand to magic you all the skills you need to find a job or is the pixie with the loads of dosh for little work dust:rolleyes:0 -
JSA claims now link for a period of 26 weeks and not 13.
Can you go another 13 weeks?0 -
