Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 26th July! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Wow 2 days in a row now for me starting this thread. All you lucky must be having a lie in or have more important things to do
Well dry and bright here for a change. i haven't seen a weather forecast for days so no idea what's supposed to be going on this week.
Am really nervous as I have a little girl starting with me for one day a week on Friday and she's having a settling in session with me today. Am nervous for a number of reason but one of which is the loss of my time. I've had a year off with DD and I've kinda got used to being able to do my own thing and that's going to change. I know it's only 1 day a week (so pick yourselves up off the floor from laughing) and I do have the other 4 week days to myself but still am worried that it's going to be a real culture shock eek!!1
Anyway back to OS. Bought the ingredients to make Nigellas lime cheesecake. I made this for DD's christening and it went pretty quick so fancied making another one as its so delish. Not sure if it will be today as have to get house cleaned this morning but if not definately tomorrow
Think it should be ham and lentil ragout for tea, must go and check my meal plan.
Anyway will head off and put stuff in SC.
Check back later. Hugs for all those that need it. Haven't read yesterdays thread yet.
Have good day OS or not.

Morning Bitsy and all to follow
I know what you mean Bitsy, I have worked at home for 10 years now (wow where did that time go) and if I have an appointment or need to do something on a particular day it can really stress me as I am so used doing what I want when I want. Good luck with your new charge.
Lovely and sunny here at the moment, will get the wm on in a minute once I can creep in DD's bedroom & get her washing. After our hols next weekend I have told her I wont be bothering so she will slowly run out of clothes hopefully that will get her to do something for a change.
Day at home today, need to do some office work (not much since my w.e purge :j) some housework & ironing. Have Tesco's del this morning and need to go to the library later to collect some books Ive ordered. Have been so good lately not buying books. Once dressed I will have a look in the vegetable patch & see if anything needs doing.
Pork kebabs is on the menu plan for today but have some leftover chicken so think it will be chicken curry instead, may defrost some more chicken & have tandoori with it.
Anyway off now so have a great day.

Morning all,
Bright and sunny today. Good drying weather. Just been having a day at home today so nothing remotely exciting happening. Did a few quiet jobs this morning like cut & wash Benny, make some bread & wash our lounge suite. Glad I chose dark brown, the water was yuk. After lunch & DH went to work I vacumed the floors. I've run out of steam now though so will wash them tomorrow.
Ended up falling asleep and was disturbed on cue around midnight. I ended up going back to sleep a bit sooner than the other night but I'm quite weary atm. DH would be worse though so can't complain. (although I just did) When he goes tomorrow I"ll go over to shop/library on the other island. I'll have to make out a list come to think of it.
Bitsy Know what you mean. You get use to being free & easy. (in a nice way I mean)
Tea is leftovers, just need to do some more veggies. Better go and put the chooks back. Have a nice day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all
Hubby's had his bacon, egg, mushroom, sausage, toast & 5 cups of tea & been dropped at work.
DW has been unloaded & WM is flinging itself into it's final rinse, sunny here at the moment so the washing can go on the line. I have my white towels soaking in bleach so they will be washed next.
Liver & bacon with mash & onion gravy for tea tonight, pots & onion from the garden.
Plans for today include putting petrol in the car, vacuuming through & more sewing.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Everyone
Had a good time in York this weekend, but it has been a little crazy since we got back.
While we were away some travellers had moved onto a piece of land adjacent to the sewerage pumping station not far from us. It appears they had bought it and the access from the water board, but it is green belt and no planning permission. They had applied for permission to put power cables in, and this is what alerted the authorities eventually. Permission to build on this land and land adjacent to it has already been refused. Yesterday we went shopping to Castleford Junction 32 for DH. While we were out one of the contractors laying the cable, caught the existing cable with the bucket on the front of his digger, with an enormous bang and resulting power cut, for a very large area, including parts of the Donny, as it was a on a loop. They were quickly re-routed, we did not get power back until 7pm. This concerned us greatly as with no power the sewerage pump for the whole area was not working, and in 2007 after the heavy rain flooding was caused by the sewers not pumping away fast enough. Just by chance there was a local council meeting last night, which got slighty ambushed:eek:. An injuction for the infringement of greenbelt is being served today with a bit of luck but it could take ages to resolve.
Fortunately we have the 'van on the drive so had to de-camp into that to make coffee and have tea.
Have a load of towels in atm, would like to get another load of towels and a bed set washed and dried today, weather permitting. Also would like to pop to the market as we are away again on Thursday for a weekish:o going to Cheltenham, to the Morgan Car Centenary celebration, and need to stock up with BBQ meat. Will call and visit Dad on the way home. Have organised DH a surprise tour of the Morgan factory as an early birthday pressie.
(((hugs))) to those under the weather or would just like one.
Congrats :j:j to SD & Studentgirl and redruby for winning H-J at Facebook scrabble;) Haven't tried that yet.
Be good - DG

Morning all :hello:
Bit windy and looks murky outside, I hope the rain keeps away until I get to Mums later.
Bin men have just been and have left the green and blue boxes all over the place, unusual for them as they normally stack them on the drivesmust have some new men on the route.
Must nip over and put the neighbours boxes by their back door, he has cancer and cant carry anything very far.
meanmarie - thanks I will try it, as you said no reason why it should'nt work.
Donnygal - Hope today is better for you, glad you enjoyed York, its a lovely city
Bitsy - good luck fingers crossed, I am sure you will be fine x
halight - hope the twins are better soon
Better go and empty the DW before I go out, see you all later

Hi all, hope you are well
Not much OSing going on - I worked 18hrs yesterday so had cookies for tea
Belgium was nice, even though I was quite ill for a lot of the trip. My fever has gone now. OH had the man-flu varient, which was infinitely worse  I am not a sympathetic nurse. His permanant residence application was approved though, which was good and we now have all his documents back.
I am currently chasing two parcels, both of which were sent recorded/special delivery - one of which wasn't held by the sorting office for the full length of time and got sent back and the other which never showed up at the sorting office even though I have a card. I am so annoyed. The company is refusing to refund the first package as it although it was sent back to them they say they haven't received it and the one that has gone astray has tickets for the Knebworth music festival in it. As an slightly-more-than obessive nine inch nails fan, I am a little stressed as Knebworth is the last gig they are playing in the UK as part of the wave goodbye tour and my tickets are lost in the mail
I have been making things with a view to doing a craft fair, might post pics for some opinons later
Right - must go and drink more coffee. I have been here since 6.30 am
Have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0
