BritishBeef wrote:I bought the £2 OEM version 6 Nero from Ebuyer a couple of weeks ago and after installing it only supported CD burning. I then went to the Nero website and downloaded the Nero Version 6 updates (1-4) and now have:
Nero StartSmart 2
Nero Express 6
Nero BackItUp
Nero SoundTrax
Nero Image Drive
Nero Burning ROM 6
Nero Cover Designer
Nero Wave Editor
NeroVision Express 3
Nero Recode 2
Nero ShowTime 2
Nero PhotoSnap
Nero MediaHome
InCD
Nero Media Player
I can confirm that it DOES burn DVD's after the updates and seems to have
complete functionality having burnt numerous DVD's (both DVD-R's and DVDRW's.
I bought the OEM version after reading on another forum that you just had to download the updates from Nero to gain full functionality of a full Nero 6 install. It's true!
Hope this helps!
I've got a two quid OEM version I bought a while ago from another site in the mistaken belief that I could update to the fully-featured version. I'd seen postings which reckoned you could, so couldn't figure out why mine didn't work. Turned out to be this OEM Suite 3 vs OEM Suite 1 business as detailed here: http://www.softwareandstuff.com/SWW12252.html
Needless to say mine was Suite 1

I am forever getting mixed up items from Ebuyer, recently a mouse mat after ordering a mouse. So what do you recon of the chances they are mixing up suite 3 and suite 1 depending on who it is that picks and packs your order? Just a thought.
If you really want to be sure you are getting a reasonable package be sure to go for the suite 3, or possibly this new version 7.0 -
I did this last night an the eBuyer site is refusing to load at present but -
If you do a search on eBuyer for nero you will get 4 products found in the OEM section - you will need to click list all 4 results to see all of them.
Anyway, read the reviews for the product - one has about 14 reviews dating from 2004 to now. If you read all the reviews it looks like you could originally do the upgrade trick to get the DVD option but the more recent reviews appear to imply this is not the case.
Either Ahead have got wise or eBuyer source their OEMs from different places or the wrong item may have been sent
Sounds like a bit of a gamble to me, plus by the time you add p'n'p you could get this cheaper from eBay (unless you are already placing an order with eBuyer)That's Numberwang!0 -
It strikes me that these items are cheaper at scan.co.uk (although postage is expensive unless you can get the free postage through Hex?? formums)There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0

This has done the rounds on the net several times but I've only just found out and explains why my Nero doesn't work any more. The Nero 7 Premium that 7dayshop were selling was a pirate/counterfeit copy (along with McAfee, I believe). They will give you your money back if you send it back to them as I have just arranged. The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

I contacted them about the Nero 7 Premium a couple of months ago - they just refunded my money, didn't ask for the disk back.
I also got the McAfee offer but that still works/updates fine.
