Don't bother with v7 yet - it's still too buggy ..... stick with v6 [6.6.1.4 - enterprise edition is the biz!].
Upgrades and new versions aren't always what they're 'cracked' up to be - if it ain't broke .....

Definition here http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/O/OEM.html
(pronounced as separate letters) Short for original equipment manufacturer, which is a misleading term for a company that has a special relationship with computer producers. OEMs are manufacturers who resell another company's product under their own name and branding. While an OEM is similar to a VAR (value-added reseller), it refers specifically to the act of a company rebranding a product to its own name and offering its own warranty, support and licensing of the product. The term is really a misnomer because OEMs are not the original manufacturers; they are the customizers.
Edit: My post didnt look right0 -
I have Nero 6 OEM.
It is pretty much the full version. It has a restriction placed on Dolby sound on DVDs which is a separate license (quite pricey I think) which effectively means that it will not play commercial DVDs, but I use something else for that anyway. It will rip CDs and burn DVDs.
It is all perfectly legal and above board and registered with Nero. I get full updates from their website very couple of months or so.
Chuffy is correct regarding the non peripheral hardware but I think that it is not against the license terms to PURCHASE it with the hardware, rather it should not be SOLD without it i.e. the onus is on the supplier, not the buyer.0 -

It is NOT the same as buying an illegal copy at all. Most oem versions have a licence number on them, the same with oem windows which can be purchased from computer fairs.(The means of selling an oem version might not be 100% legit, but as long as the licence on the back has not been registered before, then the disc will work perfect.)
Microsoft Office is a good example. OEM copies with working CD keys are all over eBay. I have Microsoft Partner versions of it that allow ten installations for development use only and it will indeed "work perfect". But the licence is a printed piece of paper that is much harder to come by!
At least with OEM software, some of the revenue goes back to the authors. However, that does not make it OK to use as a direct substitute for the retail version.

Maybe you should read some of your own posts where you attack other members for things they put on here.If it has a mis price or is not 100% legit, you can't wait to put a negative reply explaining everything that people all ready know but choose to ignore and try anyway just for the hell of it.If it comes off they have bagged a bargain if not,big deal at least they tried.Jesus said to him, "I am the way.The truth, and the life."

Funny but on the Nero web site it is $59 for the download version.
I know it is an OEM disk but how come there such a big difference in price of essentialy the same product? (I am only using the burning facility).
Am I missing something?
Is that Charles Spurgeon in your avatar?!0 -
did i hear something about the latest version of nero not copying copyrighted discs? No idea of its true... but if it is then it would make it fairly pointelss as every CD that you buy in the shops is copyrighted. Would seem to make their product pointless. Anyone confirm or deny?stay lucky!

I'll second that, had loads of problems with v7, keeps looking up (program not responding), & some discs it burns skip or can't be read. Never had a problem with the later versions of v6, so I might go back.Next year we'll be millionaires!0
