I'm fine thanks Hettie. You take care of your health and don't let it get on top of you. Take some time for a walk or a swim to keep it all in perspective.

Thanks Dancing fairy. It's strange that when there was no end in sight I seemed more determined. Now I have the prospect of offering F&F's I am petrified they will be rejected. I don't know what else I can do if that is the case.

Every asset we have has been realised including OH's pension - if this doesn't work we are really up **** creek without a paddle.

ON THE UPSIDE - I NOW HAVE PLENTY OF WARDROBE AND CUPBOARD SPACE ! :rotfl:

Hettie - I would see what you have in total to offer and offer each one a pro-rata settlement - so the one you owed most to would get the biggest share and so on. If they say no - then you get on with your life and get back to making token payments.
To be honest they weren't that worried when they were all falling over themselves to lend to you were they? They've probably made their money out of you and as you genuinely have no other way of repaying them they'll either have to accept it or not. They aren't going to let it upset them or stop them sleeping or make themselves ill over it.
    You're doing your best.
    Take Care

I finally took the bull by the horns and sent some full & final settlement letters. I used the Nationaldebtline template letter that was suggested on here, and once I got their response in writing etc etc I proceeded with the payments. This is where I am currently:

Barclaycard settled for 33% and is now paid :j:j:j Nationwide overdraft settled at 35% and is paid :j:j:j

    M & S settled at 25% and is paid :j:j:j

Capital one settled for 29% and is now paid :j:j:j

Total of above settled accounts was £30790.00 settled for £9366. All written confirmations received that these will not be pursued by either creditor or any other third party. All have put clause in saying specifically they are writing the rest of the debt off.

    Still to be dealt with:

Nationwide credit card - debt sold on last week. Awaiting letter from DCA then will approach with offer.

Beneficial Finance - am still paying £1 per month token payment (payments agreed until next March). Will give me time to raise more cash to meet this at the time.

Nationwide Loan - due to be sold on in next few weeks - will then approach with F & F offer.

means that over half of my debt has been dealt with - leaving me approx £30000.00 outstanding.

I feel very guilty about this - but I have really struggled to get it sorted and at last feel I am getting somewhere.

Health wise I am very ragged at the moment and I am sorry I have not been able to post on here regularly.

Thank you to all who have and are still encouraging me - I quite seriously can't go it alone on this - and though I've not posted, I read other peoples posts etc every day.

I hope I will be able to give something back soon - even if it is how to survive on VERY small budgets.

I'll keep you informed - if you're not all sick of me coming and going.

Can anyone tell me how to put a signature on. I would like to list my debts etc and maybe it will encourage others (as well as keep me going on black days).

Thanks again to all you special people. :grouphug:

    Hi Hettie,

On signature try User CP at top then on the left there's a drop down menu with something and settings a bit down the list and under there is signature. Click on that. Ive just looked and had to type quickly while I remember!

Glad things are progressing well with you. Very well done. Good luck with the next step.
