Can't even believe the question is being asked about the mileage when the car is only £200!.....get it bought before they sell to somene else.

Did 330,000 in my 1978 MGB. Depends if you change bits when they need changing.

It's only £200 - even if it turns out to be a complete and utter dog, you've only lost £200.

Maybe look at any advisories on the last MoT to get an idea of overall condition (I believe you can do this online if you don't want to ask), but as everyone else says, for £200 you wont go far wrong. Not sure what scrap values are like these days, but to an enthusiast there's probably £200 worth of parts in it!

If you were buying from a dealer or from an advert then I'd say beware - there might be all sorts of problems that they're not telling you about.
But as you're buying from a friend then we can assume that there is nothing wrong that she doesn't know about it.
In which case you've got yourself a blinding deal.

Go for it. Keep it until you start having to pay out for things regularly. Then scrap it. In the meantime put money aside to get something when it finally gives up the ghost.
140k on a petrol engine is more than I'd be happy with. But for £200 you can't go wrong.
  • I thought it was a good deal, she's giving me that price as I am her longest-standing friend, I doubt she would sell for that price to anyone else!!

Let's hope it lasts for the 5+ hr drive down to Kent from the midlands when I go and pick it up LOL!

Mileage doesn't bother me provided the car has been looked after. I think 140K on a 1994 car is pretty good going really. Buy the thing! :)
