What to to do with tough roasted beef?
Comments

Or you could chop it up like mince and use it in a cottage pie etc. You can bulk it out with some soya mince if there isn't much. That way the meat flavour goes into the soya.
Or you could mince it with a little creamed horseradish and use it as a beef paste for sandwiches!
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
An hour stewing in gravy will usually do the trick.0

Yes, it should soften up if redone in some gravy. It's what I do with mine if it dries out and gets tough.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Would they soften up if I cooked them slowly in gravy?
Next time you cook it, try roasting it slowly. Cover it with tin foil for the majority of the time, and pour the juices off the meat over it now and again, then it will drop off your fork next time.0 -
You might have stuffed it in the food processor and blitzed it; turned it into Potted Beef.
Another option, you could cut it into strips and use it in the same way that you would use sausage in Toad in the Hole - especially if you added sliced tomatoes over the top of the beef and before you added the batter.
You could cut it into strips and make a stirfry.
Let us know what you finally chose to do with them~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I would cut them into strips and fry them with onions, then make a nice big hot beef and onion butty! yum yum.:drool:0

I've got quite a bit so I sliced some up and some onions and made a curry - very nice!
I might try the toad in the hole one tonight!!
They all sound good - thanks all for your help, I don't know what went wrong I got the beef from the same place cooked it the same as last time but it was tough, the one before melted!
Thanks!0 -
Tried to be clever yesterday and roasted a brisket joint ever so slowly in the oven (normally I do it in the slow cooker). It has turned out a bit on the tough side and I still have half of it left. Any ideas what to do with it - bearing in mind I have to persuade 4 kids to eat it!?
TIA
BizzimumI have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Mild curry, Stew, Lobby (staffordshire version of stew)....0

Last time this happened I 'minced' it in the processor, and made it into cottage pie (with the leftover gravy too of course).
You would never know it was a tough joint if you do this.0
