150 is a slow cook round about a gas mark 2 so it's gonna need to take some time at that temperature anyway
don't worry!

Give it another hour before you really worry. That's quite a low temperature, when I casserole beef I give it 2-3 hours at 180. It may well be that it's just not cooked yet.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

OK. I would say it just needs more time in the oven. Check it in a couple of hours and see how it is going. 150 is a pretty low heat so I would try cooking it out a bit longer. I cook on a 180 for at least 3 hours when I use beef in my stews and thats using a cast iron pan which conducts the heat really well. If it is still tough and chewy after then, take it from there:
Options if it's still hard:
-Cut it smaller, so its less of a jaw ache
-Take it out, thinly slice it and taste it, if it's still a bit rubbish you could try frying a bit to see if it tastes better crispy, then thicken the sauce up with some roux and pour over like a gravy

Thank you for your advice everyone! It's like home away from home here, everyone is so friendly! I have added more wine and put it back in the oven. I'll be up for at least another 2 hours, and if its still not better then I will try your suggestions wssla00.
Thank you again everyone, you are the nicest people on the internet!0 -
Hope it gets better with more slow cooking - it is also the suggestion I would have made if others hadn't beaten me to it. Also, these things are sometimes better the next day. Just turn the oven off when you go to bed leaving it in there, and turn it on tomorrow and give it another hour or three on low before you want to serve it.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Thank you again for the advice. Baby shoes I took your advice. I turned it off last night about 12. Then got it simmering again this morning and put it back in the oven. It's staying there till lunch time!
Donny-gal, I'm in Hungary! Back home I love my slow cooker unfortunately it wouldn't fit in the suitcase! I'm still getting used to the differences in the food here!
Thank you again0 -
