T-Mobile coverage, can I get out of contract early due to NO coverage at all?

Hi,
I have been in a contract with T-mobile since September last year, its an 18th month contract. Before I got the phone I checked the coverage online, and it said that my postcode got 'good' reception. However when I got the phone, and wanted to get going I discovered that I get absolutely no coverage at all at home, and infact no where in the village can I get a signal. I can however get good signal at work, yet they are unable to contact me when I am out of work, and starting to cause issues.
I contacted T Mobile straight away and asked them if there was anything I could do to improve reception, and she gave me a few things to try, this didn't work either. She also said that I couldn't cancel my contract.
I have now had enough, and would like to make full use of my phone at home, and am reluctant to keep on making payments of £30 - £40 per month, for a phone that I can't use properly, I even asked them if I could change plans as I only send 100 texts a month, and don't even use 100 mins of my free talk time!!! ( my contract has 400 texts and 700 mins) They said no to that too.
Basically do I have a leg to stand on to get out of contract early, or do I have to out up with this until march? Anyone had any success? Any help would be appreciated,

If you've had pressed it at the time you might have got somewhere, but after this amount of time I think you'd have a real problem, sorry...0

It doesn't take ten months to realise you have no signal.... you have no chance sorry.0

If there website is still indicating a good signal today and you don't get a signal at all oustide of the property, then you might have a case.0

I think you may have a chance if you offer to return the phone to them.
We had a similar situation with Orange a few years ago and after 6 weeks they did offer me a way out of the contract FOC if I returned the phones.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

Anyone complaining aboul lack of signal should actually READ their contract. They do not guarantee 100% service everywhere, and you will be entitled to a rebate should their network be unavailable to handle your calls - not you finding a location where there is no coverage.
From taking out a new contract (not an upgrade) you will have up to 14 days to discover whether it meets your needs and if not cancel the contract, if you purchased via mail order, DSR will also apply.
Outwith this time period, you need to complete the minimum term, or sell it on with contract to someone else. (not allowed by O2)0 -
Thanks for all you responses, I emailed t-mobile, ( when I posted 1st post) and have not yet heard back from them, now outside of the 5 days they say they will contact you with a response.
I understand that I have probably left it quite a while, make that too long(!!) and chances are they will say no, but you never know without asking, and if you don't ask, you dont get. I have 6 months left, and even if they agree to cut term short by 3 months, that would be something. thanks again.Saving target £6k by Aug 2011Raised so far £350/£6k0 -
If you had used the on-line coverage checker when you took out the phone and then found you didnt have coverage they would have cancelled the contract and arranged for you to return the phone, equally, if you had bought on-line they would have cancelled the contract if you asked, but both are within 7 days, I doubt T-Mobile will give much consideration after 10 months.
I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you had the opportunity to push for the cancellation when you first discovered the problem in the days after signing the contract, but after having had the contract for 10 months I think you left it for far too long.====0 -

When you go to the buy the phone they do say there is good coverage, the CPW are good at this. If they said you will get good coverage and you don't get any then they may have mis sold it to you. Best bet is to get onto Trading Standards. I had a n issue with this once and i returned the phone and it was sorted.end the tv tax0
