Saw a prog on the telly recently and 3 have recently changed their T&C's to cover returning a phone to store if the reception is poor in your area.

    Update

Took my phone back yesterday and they sent a cancellation request to head office due to me having poor signal. Not sure why it is poor as the coverage map shows I should have good coverage. The only thing I can think of is that there is a grey spot about 300 yards from my house so that might be effecting it. Apparantly it will take about a week for Head Office to confirm if I can cancel or not.

Thanks to all the advice and fingers crossed

The coverage maps only give a very general idea. If there's something in the way, like a building, or a dip in the ground, then you can lose the signal completely.

  • Update from Broke mum of 3.
I contacted three customer services again and with going into connectivity, then network connections on the phone I am able to get coverage through the Orange network, which apparently is no difference in cost to me even though I am on a Three contract, so I'm happy that I can at least use the phone.
Very disappointed with the customer service in Carphone Warehouse though.

That is because 3 have a national roaming agrement with Orange, i.e. they have pooled their networks to reduce costs.

  • Perhaps I should let the Carphone Warehouse know that as none of them had any advice for me only sorry your phone has no signal and you're now signed up for 18 months!
