Blimey, do you live with the CEO of telewest! ! £1.99 a month for 2 meg lol I am paying £14.99 a month for bluyonder 2 meg . Rang up and told them I was skint and had some big bills to pay so may have to cancel my 4 meg and the phone . They offered me 2 meg for £19.99 and I said no its ok I think I will have to cancel then. Then from nowhere the operator said ' ok we can do 2 meg for £14.99 ' OH ok then I said - suckers :D

    I have just this minute realised I missed a 7 out :o

With tiscali the fair usage policy means that you cant do heavy downloads (e.g. downloading a film that will take 2hrs) between the hours of 6pm-11pm on weekdays. if you do you will get a warning from them that tells you to stop downloading so much, if you do it again then they will put you on a list with other heavy users. this means that although you will still be on an unlimited service, you will experience slower downloads during this time (6-11pm) because you are sharing the bandwidth with other heavy download users.
dont worry though because outside of the 'peak' times, you can download as much as you want for as long as you want.
im currently on tiscali 1mb, i did get a heavy usage warning once via email but that was as far as it went. i now download most of my bulk stuff in the morning or on weekends.

Why do people never seem to suggest AOL ???

I have just signed up with them again after the e7even fiasco, 1mb unlimited for £14.99 a month for the first 6mths then reverting to £17.99 and you get the first month for free.

Incidentally if you already have a router and are migrating then you can sign up without contract. This is what sold it to me as I think there are going to be colossal changes to the market in the immediate future. Also there is no necessity for you to install their software if you don't want to - just configure your router with the correct info when the time comes and continue browsing as before !!!!

thats because its s**t! lol...and besides, if you ever want to get rid of it, guess what!...you cant! aol have this thing about not letting you uninstall them!

Yeah, but you dont need to install the AOL software to utilise the connection !!!

Time will tell, i used AOL until a year or so ago when all I could get was dial up and all was fine, so it'll be interesting to see what their broadband works out like. must be better than e7even tho !!

    Hi

If you are lucky enough to be in an area where you can get the £9.99 deal from UK Online then that is a good option. 1Mb, no monthly cap, one off charge of £29.99 for the modem. http://www.ukonline.net/
  • Edit: Just found these comments here so I'd have to advise to stay well clear.

ToucanSurf offer uncapped 2 meg for £16.99 pcm. See here.

No idea what they're like as an ISP.

They do however operate a Fair Usage Policy that uses traffic prioritisation/shaping/throttling for heavy downloaders during peak hours.

Sure I read somewhere that they are a re-seller for Tiscali, perhaps I'm wrong

well well I am with AOL and I can't understand why people are calling them. I would recommend them to anyone. I can honestly say that I have not had a dropped connection in about 18 months of being with them. They truly are unlimited but 2mb costs £24.99.

    Hi ceborame ,

If you phone up AOL and tell them that you can get 2mb cheaper, they will reduce your price to £19.99, lots of people have done this and there is another thread floating about somewhere about this.
