Barclays Manager - Ok so Natwest do it at the start whereas most do it at the end before clicking submit and if you continue through with the Mr John John application right at the end what do you see?
A DATA PROTECTION DECLARATION! Like I said and as is legal prequisite and must have the padlock symbol too which the example above does not so would not be classed as legally binding if you want to play pernickerty lol.2010 - year of the troll

Thanks stclair. can I just ask if you click on Yes that you have been bankrupt (no longer) is that a definite get lost:o
Say someone went BK 25 years ago! What is the outcome? I'm not sure if you open accounts but if you do, have you known people to get a Key account if they tick YES that they have been bankrupt.
It is illegal to say no if you've been b/r - easy to check as it is public data so never lie. I guess you can get away with it after 6yrs cos when its off your credit file then the lender would have no need to look.
Were you b/r 25yrs ago - an oldie but goodie eh Bosie with the whip.... :rotfl:2010 - year of the troll

I didn't notice or take that in, so it looks like they check to see if you have any adverse data immediately, before more questions.
Thanks Barclay's BM0 -

Im not sure to be honest.
I know they are not very bankcrupt friendly even though theyve been getting goverment handouts left right and centre.
I wouldnt recommend applying for an account online/telephone if you have a poor credit file your better doing it in branch.
As if you do get declined in branch the branch manager has the authority to override the decison. Were as if you do it online/telephone once your declined your declined in most cases.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

LOL, no I didn't go BK 25 years ago:p Just thinking would they still say get lost despite it being years ago.
Me personally I did go bankrupt about 5+ years ago, so not that much an oldie:A0 -

Ahhh, as the BR was 5yrs ago then wait til it drops off credit files so answer yes. As stclair says, Natwest are anti-B/R so try HSBC or halifax who seem more lenient but wait til its off the CRA's first!
They do take note, they have to and after all they could have been one of the creditors first time round.....2010 - year of the troll

I've only a few months with the adverse bk on my files, the last 3 years my credit history has been good, I was one who learnt the value of money by my bankruptcy.
Thanks you0 -
One final thought, when a bank asks have you been bk, it could have been donkies years ago,so would they hold it against you?
Just a thought, eek hope other banks don't ask that question:eek:
Halifax actually ask you that question, but within the last 3 years>
cheers again for the answers.0 -

No, there is no padlock and no data protection declaration that you seem to think is essential. Please cite the relevant law or regulation that you seem to think requires this. There is no legal pre-requisite to have a "data protection declaration" complete with a padlock.
The initial tick box is enough to undertake a credit search.
For your reference, here are all of the screens that you see going through an application for a Key Account:What would William Shatner do?0 -

We don't ask, as we'd be able to tell from our initial searches. If it's not on the searches, it was long enough ago that we don't care (provided your post-discharge credit is okay).
For basic accounts, only Barclays and The Co-operative Bank accept bankrupts. What would William Shatner do?0
