Where have the old ones gone? And if they are not coming back would it hurt to have some different ones, because the forum is starting to go down a slippery slope and its dangerous. There are threads which are just purely talking about having a bet because the odds are good  There are threads which start of related to matched betting but end up being advice on just "mugging it" And there are other threads which are just bizare and either a joke or a very very bad attempt at SPAM by a dodgy bookmaker delibrately trying to perpetuate a con on newbies  And also threads which are just irrelevant and end up a smut.
If there is any reason that these threads are left open I would like to know what and why they are? Why do we have board guides? Isnt it to deal with these kinds of posts?

In response to the op, i don't think it's a massive problem. I do agree there has been too much talk of gambling of late, but quite often the BGs would only have given the same kinda "warning" given by regulars anyway, as opposed to locking the thread - not really fair or feasible to lock the willhill bogof thread, just cos 1 person mentions mugging Federer @ 1.13.
As far as the other threads go, spam gets spotted very quickly, and we don't often get bookies on her trying to entice into joining their site, but dodgy or potentially dodgy books/offers are usually picked up on very quickly, and appropriate warnings given.
As far as the other threads go, well it's a free world i guess, and people are always gonna start threads that are of no interest to others (i hate bingo theads fwiw). Personally i have no problem with jokey/smutty/chatty threads, especially at the moment, cos there's very few offers about anyway.
I guess if anyone does want to become a new BG, they could volunteer their services on this thread.Greatwood - A charity for retired racehorses and children with special needs0 -

I know I am not the highest posting member and stuff in my short time.
But are you seriously saying how the board should be run when you have a mighty 23 posts and whopping two thanks???
Its one thing to lurk but to lurk with demands on the people who input day in day out is just totally ridiculous.Do you like my medal ?0 -
I'm not aware that there's any reason there couldn't be other board guides - however someone has to want to do the job first? I don't recall having seen anyone volunteer themself lately.0

I understand nothing about gambling, but I do know that if you're unhappy with a post you should report it to abuse. Click on the warning triangle on any post, and you'll be able to send an e-mail explaining your reasons
Board Guides don't read every thread or every post, so it's beholden on memvers to report posts they think are unacceptable.
Your specific query might be better on the Site Feedback board.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

I'll move the thread to the site feedback board where the forum team are more likely to see it. Unfortunately I dont get to read every post any more so rather than assuming Ive seen them and consciously left them please report them to the forum team so they can review them. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0

I'll do it.
