My Boyf has always been OK with the comps but its the people at work I get the most grief from. Apparently I was the talk of the staff room the other week and they were all laughing that I didn't win anything big. They soon shut up when I showed them my Chat winning letter for £250!! One of the guys has even asked me if I would tell him about any mountain bike comps I come across! Thats showed them!!! :p

I started comping when i had to retire from work because of a stroke. At first my family (who don't live with me) used to moan about how many I did BUT now the grandkids come and ask if I can try to win them such and such etc.

They really enjoy it when they get the prizes no matter how small they are and I have put a few away towards Xmas.
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

My oh has never had a whinge at me for comping, as I won on the first competition I entered (Glamour comp last year). He gets just as fed up as I do when I don't win, and stalks the postman too!! We have both always had our own laptops so sharing has never been a problem, and every now and again he will enter a few himself (not before he has scoured the t's & c's to check if it is one entry per household!). He always checks to make sure I have done the comps ending. He says he doesn't mind me comping as it keeps me quiet during the footy haha!

  • My husband used to think I was nuts entering competitions until I took him on our first holiday win to LA four years ago - but then he realised how much fun they can be. He even entered and won a tiebreaker competition himself last year, and spent a day with Heston Blumenthal at the Fat Duck! I'm 4 months pregnant at the moment and have hardly any work coming in (I'm a freelance designer) so have informed him I'm going to be a full-time comper till baby arrives, and he doesn't mind... I think I've got a good 'un here, wish all men could be so supportive!! :rotfl:

my DH never "said" anything - it was the looks i'd get from accross the room. Like you say - untill you win, now he makes sure im "up to date" and is egging me on to keep going if i happen to get board 1 night.

Anyways, he is always playing on his laptop now on games, so picture us both in opposite corners with heads burried in our laptops, very romantic! hehe

My husband used to whinge about my comping. He quietened down a bit when the little wins started coming - but he really shut up when i won the family holiday to L.A! :rotfl:
