We did Mange tout & sugar snaps in pots last year and they were a real success ( a few too many to eat though, it cropped LOADS!) Considering these are v expensive in supermarkets, and a bag of seeds cost a quid or so from B&Q.... there yo are.
A large pot,.some compost and a few sticks- youll do it. This year Im going to fashion a kind of arch thing out of sticks tied with twine to link 2 pots, they love climbing, love sunlight. they are a thirsty thing though, so make sure you water them at least daily in the hot weather or theyll go to seed. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I have a packet of MoneyMaker tomato seeds. The instructions tell me to sow them indoors in pots until May, when I should move them outside into larger containers.
There are 75 seeds. How many should I be putting in each pot?0 -
I grow chillis, tomatoes, herbs and am thinking about growing potatoes in a large pot, i've seen a patio planter kit here, http://www.gardeningdirect.co.uk/Pat...efault,pd.html it just looks like a big pot and say's its perfect for patios and small gardens.2009 Savings & Winnings so far....Pigsback £15.06 +[strike]£40[/strike] M&S Vouchers + £20 New Look + TNS £15 Capital Bonds + Qype Ninja Goodies + £50 Virgin VoucherSealed Pot Challenge #589 - Target £1500

Each seed gives one plant so unless you have a hge garden and big tomato appetite don't sow them all. Put a couple of seeds in 3 inch pots on a sunny windowsill. When they come up and start to grow pull out the weedier looking seedling and leave the stronger one to carry on. As they get bigger they might need a bigger pot indoors. Don't plant them outside until all risk of frost is gone. About May up here in Yorkshire0 -

Throw the packet away, or give it away and go and buy (or get given) some seeds for a tomato that tastes like a home grown tomato. Try Ferline, if you can get the seeds. Brilliant tomato, blight resistant and tastes good too.
Sow two seeds per pot, cut one off above the compost, leaving the strongest.
Then sit back and sigh with relief that you missed out growing the blandest tomato it is possible to grow.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

:rotfl: :rotfl: Agreed! I like these & used to sell dozens of them as small plants to people who didn't know my source:

Don't mind who knows now!0 -
I've put the Moneymaker seeds in, as they only cost 49p from Morrisons......so I can't really lose. I'm gonna have a look at the Ferline seeds, though.
I've also just got my hands on a young Blueberry tree. Any idea how big these will grow, and if it is suitable for a patio container?0 -
I bought two blueberry bushes from the pound shop. I bought one a few years ago for seven quid and it died, so figured I would try again with some cheapies just in case they died as well. Funny thing is, I have good results with almost everything I grow so don't understand what happened this time.
I am going to plant them both in a big deep pot and nourish them with chicken manure, so lets hope these two come up trumps.:hello:  please play nicely children !0 -
Babyblooz - the big thing with blueberries is acid "soil". You must use ericaceous compost. It can help to water them with leftover tea from the pot (no milk!) if you use a teapot, that is!0
