monty sounds like my tigger he is ginger with white chest and feet and he just doent stop when he starts purring, he is twelve, and a big cat. sooty used to get lumps of fur too which i cut off, his fur seemed different from the rest , it would come out in wisps rather than individual hairs. i am glad you didnt listen to the vet about monty, my daughter had topper the cat from when she was little and topper was sixteen when she died, she loved the children and hated to hear them crying, so dd was very sad when she died, they are just like family and like you i am not going to have any more cats. it was okay when oh was here he took care of the not nice bits but now i have to do it myself.

I hope your cats didn't die when they were accidentally cut. My cat has vomited all day after being given one antibiotic tablet, her nose is slightly dry but she doesn't seem to have a temperature. She is not eating. My dad thinks she is allergic to the antibiotic so I am not sure what to do. Will ring the vet again tomorrow. It is so upsetting to see her poorly but so glad I did the post as I now have lots of ideas for how to groom her. Thank you to you all.

If you can't get to the vets tomorrow try your local pet store (Pets at Home or something similar) and look for antiseptic powder. It comes in a small talcum powder type of container. I am not sure but it might be made by Bob Martin (brand name for pet stuff). It might help prevent infection setting in if it is going to be a day or so before you can get your cat to a vet. Tomorrow is bank holiday remember. Hope your cat is better soon.
