I think you have done a great job rescuing her.
I am looking for a cat at the moment, as we always had cats at home. My cat i had since i was 7 died when i was preggers with my ds, about 3 years ago now. And my mum has the other one still at home, i found her by a river in a box soaking wet and tiny. She is the most beautiful cat, long black hair and very pretty, who would do such a thing.
I adopted my aunties cat when she moved to spain and unfortunately when i had ds she got extremely jealous and would 'mess' anywhere he was sleeping, very dangerous so she had to go to the rspca, which broke my heart, as it was the only bit of my aunty that i still had close to me.
So i would like to start afresh with a nice new kitten. Have been to rspca and the like but they won't let me adopt as bailie is only 2.
So am search 'everywhere' for a kitten at the mo.... it is the right time of year isn't it????

Not sure what is the right time but I love and adore my cat even although she wasn't a kitten when I got her. Have you thought of looking in an animal sancturary? I have a friend who works in one in Blackpool and they have lots of cats who are adorable. My cat is much better today, she has jumped up on the bed several times and is purring, her miow is returning and she is licking my fingers (silly thing, she doesn't realise I have injured her). Her ears were a little hot and I have managed to get one antibiotic tablet down - I really hope she will be back to near normal before I go on Tuesday.0 -
When my cat was unwell,we wrapped the tablets in corned beef and he just gobbled them down.I suppose you could also grind them up and add them to the food.
Ours had an elizabethan collar as he had quite a lot of stitches(he got caught on wire) and couldnt clean himself or get through the cat flap for a while.0 -
My cat was diagnosed with a brain tumor on March 21st. She was given antibiotics which at first she would swallow whole aslong as we wrapped her legs in a towel to avoid her claws. After a few days she would be sick and bring them back up so we crushed the pills and put them down her throat. Again after a few days she would be sick. Our next move was to crush the pills and dab chicken on the crushed pills. We also tried putting the crushed pills in jam and yoghurt. The yoghurt worked best. Unfortunatly for Whisky the tumor started to affect her jaw so she could barely open her mouth.
On Monday April 10th I had to do the hardest thing. She died at 4.25pm.
She was the most graceful, beautiful cat and she will be missed so much.Whisky

So sorry to hear about your cat. It's a terrible loss. My old cat had a tumour on her jaw and I had to have her PTS before she became in pain and it was a horrible decision to make. I hope you are okay.0 -
i am sorry to hear about whisky, its just so awful to lose a lovely puss cat, i was very sad to lose my sooty this year and still miss him yet, he was a rescue cat and we just have to think that we gave them a warm and loving home0

I cannot get it out of my mind. I knew Monday morning what was going to happen. It was horrendous knowing what the outcome was going to be. I knew it was unfair to keep her anylonger. When she was first diagnosed the vet suggested it to me then but I couldn't. She was "not in pain, not distressed or depressed, just confused like a little old lady." The vets words, not mine. I feel sick everytime I think about what happened Monday. With it being the Easter hols my 6 yr old son was off school and with us. My husband took him from the room so I stayed with her myself. I was there the day she was born and also there at the end. My other cat has chronic rhynitis which requires antibiotics every few weeks. He is 15 and has always been with Whisky who was 17. He is pining for her, mostly of an evening when they would always share a bed. He refuses to go in the bed at all now and sleeps on the top of the stairs.0 -
oh i am really sorry purdy i know exactly how you feel, there is nothing i can say to make it better. your other puss will be sad too, my sooty died peacefully at home and tigger the big cat lay with sooty for 1/2 hour after he died as if saying goodbye. much love to you all0

I was recommended a brush called a Zoom Groom for my first adopted long haired puss and have used it for subsequent pre-owned cats who have all loved being brushed with it. It has rubber fingers which massage and clear loose hairs.

there is also a comb which has revolving teeth which seems to help with knots.

Should think that any major petshop should stock them.Hope this helps0
