Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sat 25th July 09 This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning.

Another weekend and another crappy weather week ahead. I thought it was going to be nice, but looking at the forcast we are in for more wet, windy cold weather. Highs of 60 in the summer hardly supports the global warming theory?

That also means that all the tourists will have nothing better to do that clog the roads up driving to ASDA as going to the beach is pointless.

Looking at my garden, the veggies are rotting inthe cold wet soil and I wonder if the sweetcorn will get polinated as it needs sun.

Alll seems a bit grumpy today as usual, but we need BBQ weather and soon.

Have a good one....

Morning N9eav and all to follow

Sunshine here at the moment but it must of rained loads last night looking at the marsh that is my garden. Still have yesterdays washing on the line!

Plans today are get dressed in a min and take the dogs for a long walk before most people are up. Need to wake up DD at 8 so she can get ready for going out with her bessie mate for the day & sleepover :jDS will probably play out in the village.

I am going to catch up on all my niggly paperwork. All ironing is up to date:T

Cant remember what is for dinner so need to find meal plan, oh and also need to do next weeks meal plan and online tesco shop.

Enjoyed Harry Potter yesterday and it was a nice change having tapas for dinner, havnt had that in a long time. Made even nicer as was very cheap once the tesco vouchers had been used.

    Have a great Saturday.

Morning N9eav and all who follow

N9eav I couldnt agree more about the weather,my garden resembles a paddy field.Maybe I could plant rice instead of cabbages:rolleyes:

Finally my decorating is finished. If I say so myself the living room looks mighty fine:DHopefully I can get back to some sort of normality next week as OH is back at work.I'll miss him dreadfully but hey needs must when the devil drives.I havent posted much all week due to the disruption of the house,I havent done much OS so didnt see the point of posting.

My raised beds are coming on a treat at the moment.Daughters are on daily slug removal duty:mad:For some reason they dont mind the task and yd has even taken to inspecting the cabbages regularly for caterpillars or eggs, quite sweet to see.I planted some caulis and more lettuce yesterday.I bought the plants from Homebase,I only started growing veg this year and it was a little late to start from seed but next year I will grow my own plants from seed because its fearfully expensive to buy the plants in

Its Saturday so very little gets done on a domestic front, but hopefully the weather will dry the ground out sufficiently for me to be able to mow the lawn.I have a couple of loads of washing to fling out onto the line and a small pile of ironing that might well have to wait till tomorrow as I have that cant be bothered feeling growing

MSD-Hope you are managing to cope with the lack of news about Tristan

PP-Havent read your posts recently is everything ok?Or are you on hols?

FE-Great news about the scan,a little sad about the other embryo though

To anybody that is having a birthday I hope you have a good one and get treated right royally by your loved ones and for those who are having a hard or sad time heres a ((((((((((hug))))))))) to help you feel better

    Morning all
Bright & sunny here at the mo, but don't know how long it will last, best get the washing out quickly.
No real plans for today, hubby will watch the GP qualifier & shout at the TV lots.
I shall potter around generally & start some serious work on Monday.
    Have a good one.
    Hugs Hester

Morning Chums ,weather is looking quite bright at the moment .Last night there were some quite heavy rainfalls and a few thunder and lightening bits but nothing too severe. Saved me watering the garden at least.
A bit of painting to do this morning, not a lot just a couple of shelves.Tonight i'm off round to my DDs for dinner and a 'family night' of cards with the tribe.
I soon get back to my routine although I keep thinking its thursday for some reason Probably because I have been away for a few days.
I have been trying to sort out my crafting stuff I have so much of it I am going to be ruthless and donate some to my DD's special-needs school in September. The little ones love crafting and making stuff there. I gave them a huge box of buttons a little while ago and the teachers were so chuffed as the kids always need extra bits and pieces.
Only four weeks to go until our family holiday on the Isle of Wight. We have rented a house at Chale for a week in August. The little ones still don't know and we will tell them about a week before we go. Well time to get the kettle on I hope everyone has a good day whatever they do.
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning everyone.
Sunny here yay!!! Not sure how long it's going to last mind. One load of washing on line, another in WM and probably two more loads (large bath sheets etc) to go on so will try and get it all washed and dried whilst weather is good.
Have written a list of jobs I want to get done today although whether I actually do them is another matter ;)

Photo shoot in London was good but weather down was pants, weather back was pants and it was soooooooooo busy there it was untrue. In the end we went to the shoot and just came home. All the pubs etc were rammed so we just wanted to get back home! Fortunately they pay for travel expenses otherwise I'd have been milking the trip for all it's worth! Photographer told me that my H was very photogenic. Have told him this and he's going to end up with a big-head at this rate. Pics came out really well although the art department will choose which pic is in the mag so out of the 80 shots (eek!) she took we don't know which one they will choose. They've unfortunately changed the layout of the article page so rather than H appearing as a full A4 sized pic with some wording he will have a smaller photo. New layout is rubbish but I don't own the mag........
Got to drag myself to Mr S sometime today (oh joy). Thank goodness for fast track - I'd die without it!!!
Right off to write my shopping list and be frugal, frugal, frugal!!
Not caught up with yesterdays thread so hugs to those that need them.
Have a good day all OS or not.

I'm afraid I have totally fallen off the OS bandwagon, as haven't been cooking or eating much lately :o
Anyway am hoping to get my garden done today by the ex, i'm sure he's doing a rain dance as the sky is very overcast here:rotfl::rotfl:
Hope you're all ok, especially my old friends here, and I promise I will get back to my old self asap:A

    :hello: Hello everyone!

candygirl - Good to see you posting again, so glad you're starting to feel better!

Bitsy - Glad the shoot went well - as you said, shame about the weather!

sistercas - So sorry about your nephew, what a shame:( My DD2 is a community paediatric nurse and she said they have been having training so they can take a turn at going to a local clinic to hand out the Tamiflu, so I shouldn't be surprised if she gets swine flu at some point.

ravylesley - Well done on the decorating :T

N9eav - Agree with you about the weather, and it's been wetter where you are than it has here! Meant to be good in August though, so they say.

Hester - Enjoy your pottering day!

essex-girl - Let's hope our washing gets a chance to dry today

I'm up quite early for a Saturday,(woke at 7.30) as a man's meant to be coming today to retile ours and next door's bay window/porch roof. It's one continuous roof so made sense to have ours and theirs done both at the same time.

Have a few loads of washing to do today, as only one load got done during the power cut! I do hope Penny_Pincher didn't get home from her break until the power was back on again.

Had a letter to say my hospital appointment about my varicose veins has been brought forward from Oct 2nd to Sept 4th, so that's great! :j Someone else must have got fed up with waiting and gone private :D

Hope everyone has a good day

    Hi Guys!

We are back and our new baby has arrived:D....I will post a pic later if anyone would like to see?

Our holiday had naff weather, so I was in alot of pain throughout which wasnt nice. Local hospital was great and gave me better pain relief quickly.

Have done 3 washloads since we came back. DW has been on and unloaded.

Cleaner hadnt been whilst we had been away, so the house needed a thorough clean, bedding changed and I really wasnt happy! I am contacting her in the next 2 days to tell her not to bother coming back as I need reliability and consistency.

Having a ploughmans for lunch of french stick, salad leaves, ham, cheddar, pickled onions & apple. Think we may have a BBQ later if weather holds off.

Got a solid pass on my essay whilst we were away. Tutor and I pleased as I thought I wouldnt pull it off as I had been so ill but didnt want to pull out as I only have another 2 essays to do now, then I have passed.

Anyway, if I have missed anything...apologies.

    Hugs to all.
