Hi Folks
Yesterday hubby tried to combine drives c & d which had previously been partitioned on old computer, to use for storing music.
He used Norton Partition Magic and all seemed to go well, the screen displayed the message all tasks completed, please reboot for changes to take effect.
This is where the problems start, blue screen of death appears  saying a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to avoid damage to your computer message *** STOP : 0X00000024, if this is the 1st time you see this screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again disable all anti virus software, defrag and backup utilities and run chkdisc and then restart. Computer was restarted and same message appears, however we cant get past this screen even in safe mode, to carry out above.
Hope someone out there can help, to avoid journey to the skip. PLEASE
Cheers

The blue screen of death can occur for a huge number of reasons - hardware, software, drivers etc. You'll need to google the error code or look it up on microsoft.com
good luck!0 -

Looks like something driver related...
When booting press F8 (i think) and boot into safe mode to seee if it is driver related. If it boots, then you are laughing as it is not any major damage...if not, the boot sector seem s to have been corrupted when repartitioning.
If it's the boot sector let us know and we can have a look...0 -
I would try the chkdsk option first
what make PC is it ??
if you have windows disks it may be able to do a repair or it may have a recovery option on boot up
to the last poster, they cannot get into safe modeEx forum ambassador

Also, you may want to disable 'automatic reboot' in My computer (right click) properties , once in safe mode, as to give you time to write down the error code.0

they can't get in safe mode
If this screen appears again disable all anti virus software, defrag and backup utilities and run chkdisc and then restart. Computer was restarted and same message appears, however we cant get past this screen even in safe mode, to carry out above.0 -

If you take the hard disk out and connect it as a slave to another PC you may be able to safe your data and then reinstall whatever OS you had on there.0
