I didn't think you were ever tied into a contract with sky? I thought it was just a rolling thing? I know you have to give them 30 days notice but I thought that was it?

Just read the terms and conditions. They have the right to increase the price of the package by a maximum of 10% at any time during the year.

Therefore we cannot get out of our contract.

ok,. if you're paying £16.50 now for 1 entertainment pack, your subscription will go up to £17.50 in september. it's a £1 increase, which is under the 10% that is a contract breaker.

then in jan there will be 50p added as the vat increase, as there was a 50p reduction when the vat went down. nuffsaid really...

When I signed up to sky I missed out on the offer of free sky plus box as I didnt see the promotional leaflets in time before I signed up. Can I use this as an opertunity to cancel and get free sky +? I have talk and broadband witn them too.

No I would have thought, Sky would say your loss. If you don't see their advertising but still go ahead and get a product then it is to their benefit as it has cost them less. You will still be bound to the contract.
