Thats funny, was just reading CAG. De Tute is the head of Wescot ......... she would say that! Was it not her company that bullied a poor woman to the point of suicide for a debt that wasn't hers???? x

Indeed it was, she's a heartless biatch that really needs to lose her shares so she can feel what it is like on the receiving end

I really do hope that for the sake of peeps that this ruling would really benefit, that it does come to fruition along with the 3 year reporting of CRA's in line with EU.

It would appear that more people are for it than not (apart from DCA's of course). Wouldnt' that be ironic. They get done out of jobs and become a victim of their own seedy industry  x

It will happen, you're talking about the DCA's vs the MoJ and Trading Standards - even if the DCA's manage to get the ICO on board, who if you like are only arbitration services not an enforcement power, it'll have little effect. (The MoJ & TS are both enforcement powers, i.e. they can fine you whereas the ICO cannot!)

It will change to 3yrs, no question about it.

Very interesting - to be honest , whilst I agree we should have CRA's - I also think they have too much power and should be regulated more. Also apart from the main three you also have offshoots like 'hunter' and another I found was 'teletrack'? or something.Whilst they all do a job - they can hide behind a curtain , and as a consumer we would have to fight to get info from them.

Yes Mate, you have the 3 main Credit Reference Agencies (CRA's):

    - Experian
    - Equifax
    - CallCredit

And you also have the 4 main Fraud Prevention Agencies (FPA's):

    - N Hunter
    - Cifas
    - Experian Data Analytics
    - Synectics Solutions

That is all mate - nothing else is regulated in the UK to enable sharing of data. Just the 7 names above.

    Great thread
Totally agree that the time should be cut to 3 yrs.
Burglars, muggers and other thugs can go out..commit a REAL crime and even if jailed a year or so and the 'slate' is wiped clean.
Miss a payment or two on a credit agreement however and it is an 'automatic' 6 yr sentence.
How can that be justified
I'm not perfect, missed payments in the past, have the defaults to prove it but will never make the same mistake ever again.
All of my accounts are paid immediately upon receipt which at this moment in time should mean that I'm an excellent risk, earn good money, never overdrawn.
But...because of mistakes...4-5 years ago along with the underhanded practices of DCA's I am still penalised.
No doubt the 'do-gooders' will still continue to say...6yrs minimum is a wonderful idea but you NEVER know when YOUR circumstances may change.
