I think it was someone else who said they could find a new one for 19K not me. I also said I would ideally like to pay 12K not that this was what I actually expected to pay. I think I will wait to see what sort of impact the disco 4 has on the pricing come September. Thanks to all for the helpful responses especially the historical info from BCA and glasses.

Dealers near me are still asking £12k for late Disco2's.

I haven't seen a Disco3 for anything like that ('cause I'd have bought it).

An SE with extra's. Also "high miles..."

Yep, 114K to be precise - not so much 'high miles' as been to the moon and back....

My BIW bought an 05 from a dealer last year in Nottinghamshire and only paid 9995..... so 12k for a 3 y/o is about right, you can get a new one from the local main stealer for about 19 (in last weeks local paper).

Can you back that up with a link / more info? Sounds more like a Freelander price than a £31K retail Discovery 3 price?

Fair enough, but your basis for £12K seemed a bit flawed.

Ultimately if £12K is your budget then they will eventually come to be available at that price.

Not sure about the impact of Disco 4. Seems to be a bodycoloured Disco 3 with some revisions - more of a Disco 3.5 than a Disco 4 (though i know LR are naming it '4'), so not sure it will impact even late plate 3's let alone 4yo ones that much.

    Good luck anyway.

Agreed, it's a facelift with a few more electric bits to go wrong....it's got the latest fashion must have, the stop/start button, like cars from 50 years ago.

I seem to have managed quite well with a key for the last 37 or so years behind the wheel, strangely enough i also know when it's dark or raining so i know when to fire up the needed gadgets to deal with those things, and i do not want any car with an electric handbrake.

is the stop start thing not just more than a button to start the engine? i thought the stop start technology was where the engine would shut off if it was idling for too long at traffic lights or a traffic jam, then when you press the clutch or put it into gear the engine would start up again.

Yes i should have said 'keyless go', again not something i hanker for but probably more user friendly (till it goes wrong which it will) than the breeze block you have to shove into the dashboard of Freelander 2 before pressing the magic button.

    Anyway i don't recall which car had stop/start tecnology 50 years ago..:p
