Another DFS nightmare story!!!!

Thanks bifold, finally an upholsterer that agrees with us! lol. In my opinion, and anyone that has seen it, the sofa is definitley worse in the flesh. It is a pity you're not local as an independant report would be an added bonus, however i will use the information you have provided. Thanks again.
Just to keep this post updated i should let you all know where i stand. A couple of weeks ago i wrote an email to the judge at the sunday mail, i recieved a letter stating that they had contacted dfs. Then on wednesday i got a call from a nicola dawson from dfs head office, she just wanted for us to arrange with the manager of the store for him to come and see it for himself, because, she said that whether they take it back or not he would still need to follow protocol and be granted permission to see it.
I brought up the fact that keith is not an upholsterer and therefore his opinion doesn't count, besides i showed him pictures weeks ago and he made it quite clear that in his opinion there's nothing wrong with the sofa! I also informed Nicola that we are fully intent on pursuing this through FIRA, to which she replied 'we're not saying that we won't take it away!'. however they're also not saying that they will either!!!
So, as it stands i'm awaiting a visit by keith with someone from trading standards present, i have the complaint forms for FIRA filled out, Another email to watchdog and further correspondence with my new friend at the sunday mail to keep me busy. Thanks again to all you kind people, the support through this really keeps me sane.0 -
My sofa is also from fv and I am also very happy with it, particularly as I chose a non standard fabric and colour and had only the swatch to go on before it was delivered. But I am well pleased with it.0

Good luck Matt.
Once this is over you and your fiance will be so glad you stuck to your guns for what is only right and fair.

YEEHAA!
Good news folks, Keith came out to the house today, with two representatives from trading standards. After a lengthy discussion keith was still adamant that he doesn't regard our 'grinning' to be a fault. One of the TS women prompted us to remind him that perhaps the word 'fault' is too definite a term, and that we should include our concerns with the sofas durability and the tolerance levels of the stitching when we report to FIRA.
All agreed that FIRA would definitely be the next step, then he left. I kid you not no more than 10 minutes later he called to say that although he still doesn't see a fault he IS willing to have collected, TOMORROW and we should get the payments we have made within a week or two.
I can't tell you all how fantastic it feels to know that i have exercised my rights and i have actually won, all of you kind people here will never know how vital you have been, THANK YOU.

If you really want a leather sofa, do not look at DFS
find a local upholsterer & ask them where the best local suppliers are
this is the firm weve used
http://www.springvaleleather.co.uk/
yes they look expensive, but you do have to pay for quality furniture.
we have a leather sofa thats close to 20 years old now, only parts that have ever had to be repaired are the cushions.0
