Hi,
We have a Gazco Studio Edge open fronted fire with no hearth. The fitter never mentioned it. This is what it looks like installed: http://stuartandlisashouse.blogspot.com/2009/02/we-now-have-working-fire-and-its.html
It does say it needs a 100mm hearth but mine hasnt! I agree it would spoil the look and I cant see how it would spit anything out onto the floor anyway!
We found the cheapest price on the internet then got a local shop to proce match!
Lisa
Hi lisa, could i ask where you bought your fireplace from, seems a good price and will check to see if they can do me a deal on the one i want. Just been told by alot of the dealers that Gazco are increasing prices !!! on the 1st August.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

fitted confirmed that he would just leave it loose on the floor and we can remove it afterwards. Told us he would issue a certificate once work completed and once hes gone you are free to do what you want. gazco the maker sof the fireplace reccommend a 15cm overhang each side!Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

just been relaying this to my missus and apparently he told her that glass fronted fires dont need hearths just open fronted ones... I dont suppose either of you have had the gazco studio fireplaces fitted have you?
Mine is a Gazco Designio Gas Fire, see here for a picture, ours is a balanced flue and it vents outside rather than into a chimney. The blurb on this website actually says no hearth or chimney required. And yes we did go for the remote control optionbut it's great when you get cosy and you need to turn it down LOL.

Hi Lisa
I too am interested in a Gazco fire, but cannot find a website giving a price - what site did you use?
Thanks

Hi Dean,
we got ours from https://www.dantonfireplaces.co.uk. Apparently gazco withold prices and sellers have to ring gazco for the current price. I had to ring up a few Internet companies for a price then get Danton fireplaces to price match! I think we paid £938 for the studio edge 2 with granite lining and remote control!
I hope you find what you are after!

Just make sure that if you are having a gas fire installed you use a qualified Gas Safe engineer.
I had mine installed by http://www.mkfireplaces.co.uk as I had heard some real horror stories from friends who had tried to do it on the cheap and it ended up costing them much more in the end!
I think they are absolutely gorgeous!0 -
forgot about this thread, tought i'd just pdate it with a picture. rooms nt finished, thats not a hearth below it, its us ust trying out different flooring with it. The fitter said to sign it off he would leave the old hearth there, so the following morning and a cold chisel and the old hearth came straight up.
heres a quick one with it alight, (picture taken with my phone so not so good quality)Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0
