Welcome Polly. You will get a lot of help on this site. And I strongly recommend reading "The effective way to stop drinking" by Beauchamp Colclough. Try to read the drinking stories in it without crying. If your drinking behaviour is like those, then you probably do need to stop drinking. I also suggest going to a few AA meetings. Not for everyone, but you won`t know if you don`t go.
I heard a saying at a recent meeting. Our minds try to remember all the good times we had when we were drinking. If ever, that was a long time ago. The speaker said that we alcoholics are nostalgic for a time that never was.
  • Sorry very amotionaly. But what did happen to the(my post before this 1)

I don`t know why your post vanished. I`ve lost a few when I`ve felt the need to do a long post. The very time you don`t want it to happen. Really annoying isn`t it.

Polly, welcome and I suggest you try to post again today.
You can do the post in Word and copy and paste it to your reply when you have finished, less chance of loosing it.

I've been keeping very busy, I'm not very good when I'm just sitting around.
Hurt my back, got cuts all over my hands, but I am happy and cheerful :)
Most of the last few evenings I've been too tired to think about drinking...... Ok thats not true, but I haven't felt like actually getting up and doing it, luckily my nearest shop is 10 mins drive away, so I can't just pop next door and pick some up.

Jayne, did drinking last night take the pain away today?
As has often been said on here, drink is a depressant.
Seven hours is a long time to be drinking. :(

Hi polly hope you are okay dont worry about being emotional.
Hi Beer, Al I was low when i finished but had been low coz of a few things that happened during the day. Beer i know seven hours is a long time but i wasnt drunk. I was on spirits which affects me different to wine. I know alcohol is a depressant.

I just wish i didnt turn to drink when i have a low or bad time or something happens i just need to learn to do something else. I just get overwhelmed sometimes and feel so emotional i just want to feel numb. So polly i know what you mean, after the numbing period i can feel incredibly emotional as well:confused:
