    have you both failed then?
Well I have, read back through the threads sometime if you have a day or so to spare :o on 2nd thoughts, don't.
I was still drinking now and again up to last week, still satisfiying the itch if you like, much much much better than before, but still not where I want to be. That stopped this week with the smoking and its now nothing, apart from the odd glass of wine with dinner (I have no problem with wine) and odd glass of sloe gin (like almost never)
I wasn't go to say anything, but there you go.

To be honest I cant remember exactly the chain of events.

But I started sorting myself out, having found this thread, started seeing a counsellor, Mrs Mac went away and I got close to suicide drunk. 16th April. Think i was sober for two weeks prior to that. Getting on for 20 years since I'd had more than 1 sober night in a row.
  • al a good christian is someone who lives by the ten commandments. Thats just living a decent life. The good samartian is one of the nicest stories i have ever read, its uplifting. I love the biblical stories . (wish i could do the fishes and the loaves thing would cut my food bill down a bit:)).

guys have you both fallen and turned to drink again?
Well I said I have and I have, but I never gave up giving up, Never said, well thats that then.
Did what Al said, I fell for a night, start again, if you beat yourself up over it, you have to drink because you feel so bad about it.

Its all there on the threads jayne, I haven't told you anything you can't find out for yourself, I've done better than some and worse than others, Al included.
I've never put myself up as some kind of perfect ex-alcoholic.

The way I've done it suited me, I cut down to once a week, which enabled me to deal with other stuff going on, but still keep sane. I tried the other way it didn't work. Now I'm at the right stage for me to go further, dropping the ciggies is included in that part of the plan.
I don't like talking about it, as I tend to get pounced on by the, all or nothing lot.
