beer i think your right AA is about atraction rather than promaotion . i have been feeling frustrated with this bored and it shows with my posts. after reading through form the first thread it gets to me how people cant see it. but i could'nt see it either then i was in the madness. i know this illness is the only one that tell us we aint ill. i've been self rightous(think thats the right word) and prob causing more harm than good. think i might sit back for a while.

Jayne d was there anything in the post for you 2day?

Feelie, don't go, if being here helps you one millimeter you have to stay, simple as that, no one holds it against you, you just have to try. I know you don't think your mum can help, your husband doesn't believe you have a problem. Cant you try AA online?

Beer, lewt I agree with you both, AA is for some and not for others. I have problem enough getting through a day at work without running a mile, really! There is no way I could go into a room full of strangers:eek: I think I should probably do something about that phobia/fear.

Lewt, I'd be interested in your opinion of an alcoholic, you have me intrigued. I don't know if I am, just not willing to take the chance and have one;)

Jayne, glad you are still here, I wasn't at work this morning, poorly daughter, nearly 14. And a son 12, not quite as cute as a 3 year old:D

I think I missed the program, is it being repeated:confused:

Beer - I got away with it at work as I wasn`t the only one. Probably the worst though. I would man the computer room while the others went to the pub for a couple of hours and sip my booze while they were gone. They didn`t smell mine because they had been drinking. This only worked on the late shift as too many people around during the day.So didn`t work the early shift if I could help it.While they were gone,I would only have one can.At that time,I was a functioning drunk.

All of us make mistakes. It takes courage to admit to them, wisdom to recognise them and serenity to accept them.

  • i am gonna go to bed after watching horrific documentry only because i know the pain they talk of: dunno if im an alcholic but do know that eveything i have watched tonight on telly and read on this boards make worrying reading ,and watching for me personally. i just think the demons never go away you just have to learn to live with them and hopefully that will mean without a drink. I dunno thinking about never having a drink again is like thinking of me dying it terrifies me, i dunno if i want/can do that forever. but hey pos note have headache feel like !!!! but not drinking....... nite thank u for letting me go on and on.... but as i say never had the chance before just believed i was being dramatic by thinking i drank too much... :)

Forced myself to watch the whole thing, I am a bit traumatised by it to be honest, was worth watching Al.
My OH came in half way through and I had to force myself to let her watch it as well. :(

I think they were extreme alcholics, but not that extreme, iyswim.

A picture says a thousand words, that film must have said a million, especially what the doctor was saying.
