Was just a bit too scary, you know?
And, it meant admitting that there is a problem.
The only criteria for going to a meeting is the desire to stop drinking - do I really have that?
I felt like a cheat, an imposter - like I wasn't supposed to be there.

If I read my posts, that would really make me want a drink.
It was alright till I started thinking about my Mum, and what it would do to her if I was an 'alcoholic'. She blames herself for a lot of my problems, and i know she'd blame herself for this one.

your mum has been asking you aint she? your mum being in AA i would have thought she would be delifgted your sorting your problems out, she may know about your drinking. its about getting YOU well your mum has a program of recovery which will her deal with HER things.. it may harm her more in the long run if she finds out and you didnt ask for help. what do you say when she asks if you've been over doing things?

I just say that I was alright and change the subject. I avoid her phone calls when I'm drunk.
I wonder tho - other people with a drink problem say I've got one, but people without a problem don't think I do.
    Who do I believe?

  • I think we all know that unless we want to stop we won't, some days I want to, no one can help us only ourselves, simple as, I have a very caring husband he can't help me to stop only I can do that.
